My mom keeps trying to tell me that happiness is the main objective in life but I keep telling her that the only thing I care about is financial stability and that being rich would make me happy. She tries to get me to be social but honestly I hate the stupidity in my own generation and I find small talk tedious and annoying. I just wish she would let me research towards getting a good job for my life that I will enjoy doing.

Not being funny, but you know that you can have both?
Yes financial stability is very important but what is it really worth when you're only spending it on yourself? It's a basic need for every human being to have a friend. I would also say that 'our generation' (presuming 13-17yrs) is not as bad as you think as it is the media who tend to show the bad side of the generation whereas what the media say, does not happen commonly at all! There are loads of people on this site for example who do more then play minecraft all day or go out in hoodies or whatever. When it comes to people in general you don't know who you're going to meet; like on this site, we have, mainly understanding, intelligent and open minded people.
I guess though, no matter what I say here, you will see for your self in the future. Believe me, happiness is always the most important thing*

Wow, good job sounding just like everyother teenager. Literally anyjob you do will have to be social interactions, and you can be rich and happy.

well caring about financial stability is fine but generally people have a hard time drawing the line when they are trying to be rich and they tend to exhaust themselves completely in the pursuit of riches, often ending up wasting the time and energy of a lifetime only to eventually realise its futility. wealth can make you happy only as long as you know how to wield it and it shouldn't necessarily mean money either.
idk whether socialising can guarantee you success in life and i feel everyone should get the chance to choose their dream profession. btw your situation seems a bit vague to me.

Exactly ^^ I agree 100 percent, No point in having money without friends to share it with.

My whole family is well off, we are far from happy.
Sure, we travel the world , buy houses, cars, but the stress maaan! The stress makes you depressed so bad.
I hate to go to sleep so i dont go to the next day, i have to meet expectations, also being the first boy grandson makes it even harder.
Plus parents track every dollar i spend ( damn you bank texts! )
Rich is fun and all, but its very hard. I barely see my dad, even if i do, its only for lunch or if i visit him at his company for money lol
Rich can make you meet the worst kind of people, the ones that use you.

Having a lot of money doesn't make you rich or not having any doesn't make you poor. Most people I know who have a lot of money aren't that happy. They worry about making bad choices and just want to make more. They work too hard and don't have time for their own family. They don't really have much love in their life and they hang around people just to look good even if they don't really like them. I also know a lot of people that don't have hardly anything but they have love and families and friends who like them for who they are.
What I am trying to say is you don't have to be rich to be happy and being rich may not make you as happy as you might think. Just do what you want to do and let yourself enjoy things in your life besides money.

How about being happy while sustaining financial stability? Did you ever think about that?
