My doctor prescribed me some stuff to help with acne, it's an oral pill that I take twice a day. Today is my first time taking it. But it says you are supposed to wait 10 minutes before laying down. I just hopped into bed and I don't think it's been ten minutes. I'm super paranoid when it comes to medicine and side effects.
So my question is, why do you have to wait 10 minutes before laying down?

It can cause heartburn because it's irritating to the esophagus, that's why you should wait awhile, if you notice heartburn just take some tums or Pepto Bismol. Nothing too serious should happen, just be sure to wait next time! :P

Oh okay. :P
I'm still alive and I haven't grown a 6th finger, so I should be good. :P

Sounds like you're referring to Doxycycline. As Dame mentioned, it can indeed cause oesophageal irritation. In minor cases, it can cause a bit of an upset. In serious cases, it can cause oesophageal rupture, although that is extremely rare! My friend knows of someone who ended up with this rare complication. Best to obey instructions as directed by the manufacturer.

Yeah, that is the stuff. I didn't purposely lay down before 10 minutes, I forgot and remembered after I layed down.
Do you perchance have experience with Doxycycline? If so did/does it work?

Not personal experience, no. But from friends - it is quite effective. Remember to try and avoid excessive sun exposure as well during your course of Doxycycline - it can cause photosensitivity. In particular, the heavy sun exposed areas of the skin can become quite irritated - don't want to walk around like Rudolph on top of the acne!

Yeah, my doctor did mention that.
