You could read the sequel, written in the point of view of Steven's cancer bearing little brother, Jeffrey. I read Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie when I was younger but I was in Barnes and noble the other day and I saw the sequel and I had to get it. It's called After Ever After by Jordan Sonnenblick.

Love the book and the author. Haven't read any of his stuff in years though.

I've read the sequel, but not the original, and let me warn you, the ending or After Ever After is a real tear-jerker.

Wait, there are two?!?!? *rushes to library website*
EDIT:
Just realized... I've only read After Ever After. I didn't know the two books were related and the title kinda put me off reading it.
