I went to the doctors a month ago and peed in a cup for testing. It came back with blood in it so I did another one to see if it was just a fluke or not. It showed up again and my backs been hurting in one spot for a month. It just started to get really bad yesterday. I'm getting a kidney ultrasound. I most likely have kidney stones. How much will it hurt? I'm alittle nervous :(

The ultrasound itself shouldn't hurt very much. It simply involves the sonographer putting gel onto a probe and then running it over the surface of your skin. Shouldn't be any more pain than you pressing on your back yourself.

There are more causes than kidney stones alone, which cause blood in the urine. In any case, the urine test and then the ultrasound should hopefully help your doctor work out what is the matter mate. In the meantime, if kidney stones are indeed the cause, then you will probably be advised about dietary/lifestyle changes. In addition, you might be tested for other causes which might predispose you to forming kidney stones - but that is a bit of a way to go before you reach that diagnosis. Best thing is just to wait for your doctor to sort things out for you with investigations first.

Good luck!

90% OF THE TIME YOU HAVE TO PEE IT OUT AND IT WILL HURT, noe if ultra sound showes you have stones and they are to large to pee out they might blast them with a lazer and u feel nothing

A lot of the time kidney stones can be crushed down to smaller sizes using ultrasonic vibrations which will make the process less painful, but you're still in for one hell of a ride as I understand it. You may also be in for a pyeloscopy which basically involves a small tube while you're passed out to carry the stones out for you.

That being said though, don't freak out too much, how much it will hurt pretty much all depends on how big the stones are. I suggest you search up on kidney stones and kidney stone removal, most of the information that comes up is pretty accurate.

Hey Caelen! Similar thing happened to me once, the ultra sound came back negative luckily. I would say make sure you drink plenty of water and I've heard pure cranberry juice can be beneficial, it has antioxidants and what not. I hope everything turns out all right and minimal pain is involved

Cranberry juice is very beneficial for the Kidneys, but my sister had kidney stones after all her pregnancies and she said it was worse than child birth, not trying to scare you but just preparing you.
