View Full Version : What to expect at urologist appointment??

So I'm going to get a referral to a urologist from my regular doctor for pain in the penis and general pelvic area, also tight foreskin but that doesn't matter as much to me. The problem is that I have no idea what to expect, and it's weird thinking of having an exam completely centered around my genitals! What can I expect him to do? Has anyone gone to a urologist for the same symptoms? If so, what did they do? I also heard somewhere that they might need to do a rectal/prostate exam to diagnose pelvic/genital pain  Which also freaks me out!

I've gone to an urologist, not for the same symptoms.
He will touch your penis and specially your balls to see if all it's ok.
The doctor didn't do any rectal and I doubt you'll have one except if the doctor is worried about something.
I hope all goes OK.

How thorough will it be? Like is it just a quick peek or do I have to put on a gown and take my pants off?

I have gone to a urologist before. It was for an infection. I was in a gown he had me lie on the table and pressed around my lower abdomen. He quickly looked at my penis and balls. I had to take a pee test. He also did a scan to make sure every thing was ok. Absolutely no prostate exam. So don't worry about that. I had an infection and antibiotics took care of that. Good luck and let us know what happens.

Just relax, the doctor knows what he's doing and you are gonna go to a specialist.
Of course you have to take your pants off, he has to TOUCH and FEEL your balls. It's not a quick peek if you're being referred to him but no so long neither. Maybe 20 seconds with your dick and 1 minute with your balls. And he should ask you some questions like if you ejaculate, etc.

I figured, just wondered if it would be the case. Never been to one before now... Thanks for the answer!

Ive gone to one after getting hit down there and he will examine your junk with whatever time the doctor needs to complete the exam. I got naked from the waist down and wasn't an issue. I was asked several questions that boardered on embarrassment but it was necessary.

I went to one cause I had kidney stones and it hurt when I peed. I am circumcised so foreskin was not an issue. A urologist sees hundreds of penises so it's no big deal. Just be grown up about it. Be REALLY honest with him and TELL him your problems. He cannot help if you are withholding information. If you have a tight foreskin.. tell him. He's a doctor and a specialist DON'T be embarrassed. I am sure he is more than aware that as a teen you are gonna be nervous. He knows you wack off as all teens do as it's part of being a teen. Let him help you with your problems. Oh and make sure your parents are not in the room! You will be more relaxed and open about your problem.
