Bottled water isn't necessarily better. Some companies bottle tap water straight from municipal sources. Some water bottlers also get water from the same source as tap, from underground aquifers, and some pharmaceuticals made their way down to them.

I saw the report on ABC News last night. it contains sex hormones now. Now I'm really hoping tap water does good. But with it's small amounts I don't think that there will be long term effects

With small amounts on occasion, it may be not that bad, but it's the consistent long-term exposure to various meds, whose effects at this point are not yet known. With this kind of water, we're showering and bathing in it, swimming in it, cooking with it, washing our clothes and dishes it, and drinking it. It could end up being something that we don't know much about now, but then find out it's bad for us, previous examples including asbestos, smoking, and lead in paint.

They found caffeine in our water here. I guess they will just have to buckle down on water purification.

I'm not sure if caffeine is a substance that they are required to remove.

New York has been saying that they meet all federal and state guidelines regarding water quality, and they are... because medications, which our water has, are not required to be removed from the water supply.
