It's 3:35 AM and I'm watching Top Gear. Shocker, right?
Anyways, I've always noticed that they use American units of measurement such as "60 miles per hour" and "a wheelbase of 205 inches." Shouldn't they say 100 kilometers per hour and 520 centimeters since in the UK and anywhere that knows what units of measurement use the metric system?

It can make the same number a bigger quantity (like 1 mile > 1 Km) and make it sound more epic lol. Otherwise it could be just cause it's vernacular for some, idk.

Or because the majority of their targeted demographic are Americans?

My god do I feel stupid... Well what sparked this question was a British friend of mine was giving me crap for using yards instead of meters because metric is what his country used. I still feel stupid nonetheless. :whoops:

Yeah we just the imperial system-like miles inches etc. I think we named it after the empire or whatever.

Maybe as well the MPH on a speedo is generally larger font and easier for the camera to pick up but I agree the its better for the target audience.
