to hide or not to hide?

people say its good to be comfortable with ur self harm and not to hide i not like broadcasting it but like just to wear what u want even if it means showing scars but most people just feel more comfortable hiding whats ur opion do u hide ur self harm i think its fine but i cant get up the guts to go without my jacket or hoody when my arms are cut up i just feel weird about it even if its just strangers

i think what you have to give attention to is self harm process itself..better stop it. that way you won't have to worry about showing or not your scars..

I'm hiding because I don't want people to know. It can be uncomrotable to hide certain areas all the time but well...

I wouldn't personally show fresh cuts or even healing ones. I just think it is likely to make other uncomfortable and might be insensitive to others suffering similarly. For example I live with a girl at uni who displays her cuts for all to see and tells everyone about her self harming and personally that insults me that she can tell strangers like it's nothing.

However saying that I don't hide my scars, I haven't cut in months so all mine are scars and it's fairly obvious what it's from but no one questions it and I refuse to hide from my past.

It's been really hot at the moment in the UK but I still insist on wearing my school jumper because I just feel uncomfortable with my scars on show. If I'm walking around I might wear short sleeves but if I'm eating at the table or something where people are more likely to notice then I'll cover up. My scars are for me, not for other people.
