View Full Version : Damaged My Hearing (Permanently?)

Basically, I took a hearing test thingy on YouTube and I turned the volume up when it was still playing (but I couldn't hear it since it was outside my range of hearing) and it made my ears hurt a lot and now I can barely hear anything :(
Does anyone think that this could be temporary?
Is there anything I can do to reduce the damage this did?
Any help is deeply appreciated.

Not sure about reducing any damage but it may well just be temp - hope so.

Its probably for a while but if it prolongs then you should talk to a doctor

I've done some research and found some sciency stuff. There are a couple of tables in here which might help you http://www.hse.gov.uk/research/crr_pdf/2001/crr01343.pdf

Thanks for that. Although all I learned from that is that they have only studied hearing loss from very high frequencies (VHF) up to 8 kHz and I was up at around 20 kHz when I turned the volume up.
My hearing hasn't gotten noticeably better yet at all :( I hope that it is just temporary since it would be just terrible to be like this for the rest of my life. I'll probably wait for one or two days more until I go to my doctor. :(
