I agree with Arie , I think it may have been something in the river or the fabric of your shorts. It should go away though , if it doesn't , you will need to see a doc but you should give it a few days :)

I guess it is impossible to give a good answer save "don't know" you could try asking the other guys you were swimming with if they have - but anything that irritated your penis to get spots on would I think if it was in the river also effect say your ears, eyes mouth etc.
