Alright here we go... So this movie.
I saw the premiere of this movie tonight and I really enjoyed it. It was basically as good as they could've possibly made it. The movie does a great job of making you care about the characters, which is great. This movie is really only for a certain audience. If you don't like romantic comedies, then this movie probably isn't for you.
What are your thoughts? Have you seen the movie yet?

It was very good. My friend was crying through pretty much the entire thing. I found it interesting that they didn't mention Gus' dead ex-girlfriend though. I think William Dafoe was a great choice for Van Houten too.

It was good. Just good. I saw at at the Night of Our Stars yesterday. Coincidentally, I read it yesterday as well (I preordered two years ago, shame on me). I'll be honest, this isn't my genre. It was solid and very true to the book. But I'M an emotional person and I was stuck in front of these overly excited teenage girls who were bawling loudly through half the movie. I didn't really get it lol. It's a sad concept, but I didn't feel emotionally connected with it enough, and I'm someone who cries at every Sarah Mclachlan pet commercial.
Obviously the book is always better, but I can't help bringing that up more-so as really the only thing that draws me to TFIOS is John (and Esther, but yeah), so the movie does lack his words which I find the best part of the novel (he was my writing inspiration during my teen years).

I'm not one to watch sad romance movies, much less cry for them, but holy mother of God! I felt a bit choked up at first, and then BAM! I literally put all my effort to not start hysterically sobbing, and I succeeded, yet a few lone tears managed to escape. I've honestly never read the book, nor do I plan to, because there's only so much emotional trauma I can take, but the movie was great, in my opinion.

The Fault in Our Stars surpasses The Notebook imo, and The Notebook was a movie I was never going to watch again. I know I'm not going to be able to watch this twice lol.

My brother said that the entire theater was crying for most of the movie... no thanks.
I like emotional movies, but if they're not on the level of Schindler's List or Philadelphia, there's no appeal for me. Rom-coms just aren't as good as emotional dramas.

I left the cinema kinda disappointed. Even though it was a great adaption of the book it kinda needed something else. I don't know what but I was kinda sad.

I haven't seen the movie yet but I want to. I first read the book in 2012 a few months after it came out, and read it over and over and over. It's one of my favorite books. I'm a little nervous that the movie won't be as good as the book, but so far I've really only heard good things.

I actually have a date this friday and we're going to see it. Everyone says it's a chick flick that guys get "dragged to" by their girlfriends, but the truth is that I'm looking forward to seeing it.. :whoops:

I read the book before the film, so I knew how it was going to end. However I was still overwhelmed with emotions. I saw it 2 or so weeks ago with my girlfriend and I was crying from Amsterdam onwards. It was so beautifully well written and it stayed true to the book. John Green had a huge part in the creation of the film, and it shows. I don't think they could've done anything better. I don't think they could've cast anyone else, their chemistry was flawless.
10/10 would recommend. Of course the book is always better than the movie. But if you didn't read the book, you wouldn't miss much. I'm still in awe to this day.
