Okay, so this is going to be rather vague but I need help with a book I am writing!
At the scene I am at in my dystopian book, a woman is looking for some way to trust my Male Main Character (MMC). She wants him to bring him back 'something', or do something to prove she can trust him. Well in the process of getting/searching for 'something' my MMC runs into my Female Main Character (FMC). So through several circumstances my MMC and FMC will have both returned to the woman with the something. May I also note my MMC and FMC have met earlier in the book, but my MMC did not like her and he moved on from her.
So my questions to you: What should that 'something' be? What can the woman ask my MMC to bring back that will make her trust him? How can I make my MMC end up with my FMC again?

Some additional notes:
-My FMC doesn't hate my MMC. She wants to end up with him because she needs him for her goal... (which would take forever to explain)
-The woman who wants 'something' knew my MMC years ago, but is unsure it is him years later and wants the 'something' not only as a sign of trust, but to confirm that it is him and that he will do whatever it takes to help her. So it has to be something somewhat difficult or hard to attain.

your FMC doesn't hate your MMC and needs him for her goal. is that object they bring to the lady going to link them in some way? will it be a love triangle?

I'm hoping the object will link them in some way. I'm going to try to avoid a love triangle because they've become so cliché, but if it feels like it will flow better with one I'll add it in. Right now it's just a possibility.

To gain trust in your MMC the lady may want something that is precious to him or some virtue, principle or object she values highly like wisdom or compassion maybe. It could be an object linked to the painful memories of his past that he hold dearly to show his willingness to serve/help her or save her life but that is too cliché or maybe the FMC could be a long-lost relation whom he brings back to the lady
