Why?: Sometime in the early 20th century, the same guy who invented corn flakes decided to tell the world that cutting the foreskin of the penis off of a boy would stop them from masturbating, an activity considered very taboo in that time. Over generations the tradition of circumcision became relatively common place in America, leaving the current circumcision rate to be about 50%.
