He lives across town from me and I can't break up with him on the phone because his phone gave him a rash from talking to me (wonderful excuse.. NOT!). I would do it through IM but he's always preoccupied in other things and wouldn't notice. :?

Weeeell.. The old, "Sorry, I don't feel comfortable with you... Still friends?" Might work. And if he says no too the "still friends?" then that's his loss. I wouldn't try to make him angry, not that he'd do anything... But who needs more enemies in today's world?
