View Full Version : What ever happened to the VT podcast?

Sup guys, sometimes I like to look back at old threads to see how VT has changed, how its members have evolved....I can safely say....we are the same now was we where in 2008.....
Whilst looking though the old threads I stumbled across one from 2010 that was asking for applicants to start a VT podcast in which they would talk about topics related to VT.
However I haven't actually seen or hears anything else about this...like...ever.
Its so old even some of the most popular people on here may not remember it.
What ever happened to it? Is it still going on some hidden corner of the internet? If not, where did it go? What did it co sister of? So many questions!!

I really don't know about it but it sounds like a mod thing to me, idk.
And if u look down it says : "Please Note: Podcasts on VT are not official, and are powered and ran by members of the forum. "

As far as I can tell, it simply stopped existing after a while, perhaps people lost interest or couldn't keep it going. I wish I could find the clips, tit looks like it may have been interesting

I wonder if any of the really old members suck as Dekota remember it. Some of the old dinosaws are still poping there head in sometimes. We could ask them, the VT village elders, the wise ones.

I remember it. It didn't last very long honestly, I did think it was a good idea but it just didn't seem to take off because of some issues here and there. But, I'd like to see it again one day possible.

Perhaops, but who would host it, how would they decide on the content?

Hosts, don't know honestly...
As for content, look up the internet box and RoosterTeeth podcasts. They don't really have a topic, just more of whatever comes to their minds...

Idea 1: Admins could alternate being host, talk about announcements and VT-related things with G-Mods and mods as guests. They could talk about any recent changes, a Q&A section where they answer member-sent questions, potential updates and such, etc.
I don't know if it's worth their time, though, since all this could be done more efficiently through a post in the Announcements section, so a member-run podcast makes sense.
Idea 2: A member-run, bi-weekly (once every two weeks) podcast and we assign topics for the week, people can request to be on it if it's a topic that interests them. The host(s) would poll in TWPR for a week of several topic options, and the next week goes into deciding who should be on it. The host(s) would have to be in charge of organizing everything and posting it to Youtube. I see the potential in it, but I'm not sure how interested people would be; the first one failed for that reason. But I think if you find a few interested people to host it and publicize it, I think some of the community would be want to watch and participate.

You make a valid point, you could have a "ruister teeth" style where they just start recording and freeball it, and then just edit that *inster recording session time here* down to say 5 mins, put in relevant screen captures and then edit into something basic. (Editing of this style is easy, I do it a lot for various friends who have YouTube channels, its easy, looks fine, and fast to learn)
(BTW, your change of profile PIC really thee mW for a sec)

So. It looks like we have a few people wanting to start it again. How about we try it just a few times and see?

Idea 2 sounds like a better way to go. If you can find some people that are willing to host it.

The VT podcast never really made it off the ground the first time. It died before anything could really come of it. In reality, there isn't much content to include in it, and it's a lot of work. People have tried to bring it back, but it never makes it.
We're not going to do adopt this as a staff project, or "official VT podcast", but if you want to try something, then go for it.

I dont think that finding people to host will be too big of an issue, people seem excited to be part of it.
Anyway, I think it would be really cool and interesting, and I would host or co-host (maybe via skype?) the podcast.

I've seen these older posts and could tell that it just didn't pick up, but I think you should really try it. There are some really good ideas here. Perhaps someone could start a social group to get something a little more organized? If you get something going, I'd love to be a guest on an episode or two. I don't have the time or resources to start it, but if someone who does would take responsibility, this could actually happen. You don't have to talk about VT related things, necessarily, but maybe about what we have on the forums. For example, you could have an episode on the Teen Sexuality forum, where the hosts (and an active member or two of the forum) talk about and give advice on sexuality. If we kept it to announcements, it'd barely be enough for a couple of episodes.

I would be able to host it for the most part (not recording...) so, maybe send me a PM or Skype message, email, carrier pigeon, whatever, and We'll get this figured out.

I got your PM but as you posted a thread, I'll answer it here.
Ooh jeez, that was awhile ago. Basically I think the three of us recorded our own talks about certain issues and he strung them together into one episode. I'm pretty sure I talked about some sort of psych issues as that's pretty typical of me, don't know if they talked about the same thing. I think we had themes we stuck to though.
I don't quite remember why they stopped; I think we only did one episode. But I do know Jack was banned (well, obviously. I mean that he contacted me after he was banned and we kept in touch for a while) but I don't remember when that was and if it had anything to do with the podcast ending.
EDIT: I did some digging in my inbox, if you're really interested lol. There were two episodes before Jack was banned, no info about the first one but the second one was called "Holiday Blues" and I talked about dealing with EDs around Christmas. I even found the download links of my bits but they were on mediafire and have long-since disappeared. Seeing as his last post was Dec 25th of that year, I think that's why it stopped.

It seems Jack being banned killed it, playing detective :) BTW, why did jack get banned?

It's against VT rules to disclose that information if I recall correctly from my mod days, but I do know.

I would definitely participate in this. You other guys can take personal issues, abuse, science, even politics. But metaphysics will be mine!
Somebody has to explain to you all why none of you have free will and life has no inherent meaning...

This sounds like a great idea! If you guys wanted I could make a subreddit for the podcast where people could post topics for it and give feedback. It's up to you guys though, either way I love the idea :D

I think you're confused, the red pill is the one that will alert you of the true nature of your existence and wake you up. The blue pill is the one that continues the delusion.

I like the idea. Maybe compose a list of popular topics on the forums every week and then talk about them. I think it would be pretty interesting. Although, it would be quite difficult to put together.
