It's not common for people at least in my area, to switch jobs. That being said, where have you worked? I worked at McDonald's for a year and am currently Work at OfficeMax.

I've done a bunch of odd jobs for my dad, his friends and neighbors. finally got my first real job with a steady paycheck last month. not gonna name the company because it's pretty small and I don't want to dox myself, but I will say that it's easy as shit full time work for $11.25 an hour (min wage is $7.25).

I worked as a paper girl, but that was only short term and wasn't even a proper job. But, I work in theatre now, have done since November 2012, doing different things here and there. I am looking for another job, here, second jobs are really common because the minimum wage is absolute shit.

How did you like McDonald's? I worked there for about three months, and it was the worst decision of my young life so far.

Yeah that fucking sucked. Here are a few of my rather bitter remarks that I made while working at that shit job.
"Ma'am, I took your order at 2:13. It's 2:17 and you're telling me it's been 10 minutes since you ordered."
"The McFlurry only comes in 2 sizes. You want more options? Go to Dairy Queen just up the road. It's a hell of a lot better than this place and on;y a dollar extra."
"Why are you yelling at me of all people for your food taking more than 5 minutes? I'm just the teenage kid that took your order and nothing more. Go yell at the kitchen."
"I can't send an order for a burger cooked rare because well, it could kill you."
"Why can't McDonald's be more like Arby's? Well for starters, we're McDonald's, not Arby's."
As you can see, I'm kind if a little fucker...

I've never actually had a job since my parents don't really want me to work yet, but I have nothing better to do with my spare time, so I've started looking.

I hear you. I straight up quit, no two week notice nonsense.
The night I left, this school group came in, so it's like 100+ little fuckers, right? And they all hoard to the front and start ordering. So it's loud and I'm trying to hear the person ordering over their friends yelling penis and I'm getting real tired of this shit at 9:00 PM. Then like five guys said the name for their order was vagina, two asked what order number I was and if I came with a toy, and four came back up after they ordered to say they wanted to change their order, and proceeded to bitch at me when I told them it was too late. Then they started spilling their drinks everywhere. By the machine, on their tables, at the doorway, even in the damn bathroom, so I clean up two or three of them and start to take the mop bucket back, and this little twerp stands up and grabs me by the back of my shirt and says' "You forgot the one in the men's room, lady." and then snaps my bra. So I handed it to him and told him if he was going to be a disgusting little shit and take a fucking drink in the bathroom, and then spill it everywhere, he could mop it up like the twat he was. I took of my uniform, walked out, and never went back. McDonalds is a Hell house.

I don't hold down an actual job, I work as a "bob a job" man (UK slang). It means your just a guy who will do anything to earn a little cash, be it painting a wall, cutting down a tree, helping building a wall or just fixing a broken item.
Its not steady work, some months you barely earn enough, some months your swimming in it.
But I have no boss, I decide when I work, I can haggle to get a decent wage. And I usually enjoy the work.
However this summer I will end up working as a labourer for my dad.

I've worked for 3 years now at a paintball place. I don't entirely regret working there because I met some awesome people there and it changed me a lot but I definitely regret staying there so long. Try not to work in a small business as a first job, or if you do don't stay there for 3 years like I have...
Employers don't really count work at small businesses as much as companies and because the business is only small the employers can get away with treating you like shit.
Over last summer I worked in a warehouse and that was really good pay, I was getting about $650 a week. Trade off was though that I had to wake up at 5:30 every day...
Also, I'm doing work experience now with a company's accounting department to get some experience in the financial area.

I do a lot of work: homework, schoolwork, picking up dog poop, waking up...
Maybe next year I'll start looking.

Holy fuck that's bad. I wouldn't have handled it as maturely as you did. I would have probably thrown the drinks at some kids.

that sounds remarkably similar to the stories my buddy tells me about his experience working at Walmart. endless hordes of the unwashed and their shrieking spawn + minimum wage = only the dead can know peace from this evil.

I'm thinking about applying for a part time job at gamestop if I'm not too busy when I turn 16. Anyone have experience working there?

couple of my friends do. it's your garden variety retail job, meaning minimum wage, few hours and your manager will expect you to upsell the customer on stupid shit like extended warranties and financing. they'll get ass-blasted and threaten to cut your hours if you don't sell enough. tl;dr it sucks don't do it.
tbh your best bet is to apply at a smaller company (not a national or international one) although the pay is rarely good they do tend to treat you better and there isn't as much corporate mumbo jumbo to wade through.

Yeah, there's this much smaller local chain in town too that sells old vintage games as well as new ones, and the employees seem to be more knowledgeable there. They already know know me because I go there so often so I'll probably apply there before I consider Gamestop.
