"Children of Men" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0206634/),
is one of the best movies I have ever seen.
And I have seen a lot of movies.
The movie is set in an almost a distopic world, only a few years in the future,
where all human females have become infirtile.
The world's last generation is in chaos.
The antagonist finds himself within a resistence group,
labeled terrorists by the government,
which is now deporting immigrants to camps.
The protagonist gets a job to escort a young girl,
and everything turns to chaos when he finds out that this girl is the only pregnant woman on earth.
You can probably tell that's a pretty intense story,
and the movie... wow.
One of the few movies that really made me feel things deep inside,
it speaks to all your primal feelings and it's really about the big questions like life and death.
Amazing soundtrack,
amazing visuals, and a perfect atmosphere.
Violence isn't just mindless shooting, but you can feel the terror and the pain and the loss that comes with it.
9/10
Here's the soundtrack

Hmm, it sounds OK, I may give it a go if I see it in the shop. However at first glance the story seems a little bland for my taste. But hell, its got to be better than Sharknado
A film I recommend, A Beautiful Mind. True story, and absolutely beautiful soundtrack and camera work, fantastic acting and story.

Trust me it's absolutely everything but bland.
It deals with everything it's tense and exiting,
it makes your heart beat faster there's action and fear and even humour.

Sometimes a plot doesn't stand out too me. But I'll see the film and be blown away. This sounds like one of those times. If it comes out on DVD, I'll pick it up.

I've seen that movie not too long ago as well, rated it 7/10 though.
I enjoyed it, but it's not one of the best movies I've seen (and I've seen a LOT as well)
2 recently movies I enjoyed watching recently were Amélie and The Perks of Being a Wallflower (different genre than children of men though)
However if you liked Children of Men, perhaps try watching The Fountain, it has some similarities (fragility of life and death) though it's more abstract kind of movie (if that's the right terminology)

I personally felt it was pretty sloppily executed and had a tired concept as far as dystopian fiction goes. The performances were great though.
Btw, an antagonist is the bad guy, you mean the protagonist(main character) in your review of the movie. ;)

I didn't feel it was sloppy at all, what exactly do you mean?
I aggree the perfomances were great.
What I loved about it was the tension in violence, where most movies depict violence as just violent, in this movie it really felt like I was there. I don't know, hard to explain hehe

I've watched Amelie and TPOBAW,
Amelie is a greaat movie.
I thought TPOBAW was okay, not great, I watched it because of emma watson (lol), I enjoyed it but it didn't really make me feel much.
I'll watch the fountain, haven't seen it yet

I felt the pacing was off and some of the visual compositions and framing choices were overly muddy and tried too hard to suggest the dirty, gritty mood.
As far as violence goes, the way I see it, any movie that depicts violence for no other reason aside depicting violence or as a cheap plot device is a bad movie, simple as that. Violence, like anything, should be treated with implications in mind. So for me, the way Children of Men depicted violence was a prerequisite - it was well done, but nothing special either. Unfortunately, most Hollywood movies and particularly Action movies have a really bad relationship with violence, using it as cheap Action and because it looks "cool". But just because there's many bad movies out there, I don't think we have to put a movie on a pedestal for simply not making the same mistake.
I felt that Children of Men was really just...not bad, with the performances making up for the tired story and sloppy pacing. I expected more from it when I first saw it to be honest, as the movie has been hyped up for years everywhere. It's impossible to talk about dystopian flicks from the last couple years without somebody bringing up Children of Men.
That said, I'm a very critical person. I've seen thousands of movies(this is not an exaggeration) and studied quite a bit of film theory and practical filmmaking.

With this I totaly aggree, I felt that there was too much overal dirtynes. That being said I was still glad that most of the colours remained intact unlike some movies where there seems to be no colour at all.

This is also true.
However this is only one of the few movies I know that (in my opinion) depicted it this way so I do give it some bonus for it hehe
Ofcourse I also think this could be the case in all movies,
but as you said alot of action movies just do it to make it look cool.

That's true.
For me it was the opposite,
I thought it was better than I expected.
It's alot of hype too yes.

Well thanks for your opinion on the movie ;)
Ofcourse my judgment of the movie isn't really objective since most of how positive I am of it is just because the way the movie made me feel and not how the actualy movie was like.
I still think it's an amazing movie.

Hey, no problem. ;) Don't take my opinion as too objective, either. While it is possible to judge art rather objectively since there is theory involved, in the end there is always a subjective element. If the movie made you feel and think, it reached it's goal at least for some people, meaning it can't be all bad. :) The only thing that slightly annoys me about Children of Men is how ridiculously overhyped it is so many years after its release still.
