APPLICATION ESSAY
There are several reasons I should be chosen to be an Explorer. First of all, I am a rather intelligent person, and have a great work ethic. Second, I have complete and total respect for the law in every possible capacity. Third, I have extensive experience with the department. And there are several reasons I wish to BE a Police Explorer. It would certainly help me towards a future career, and I know that it would be a great job to hold. Police Officers are the under-respected underpaid guardians of society, and I want to be a part of that.
Throughout my school career, I have gotten good grades, and held myself in high esteem. I always do my best in subjects that interest me, and I do decent in subjects that don’t. I always get my work done, no matter how much work and time I will need to put into it. If I am given an assignment, I will do all that I can to successfully complete it.
For the past few years I have run into many opportunities to do drugs and alcohol. I have seen many friends get in trouble with the law, or break the law repeatedly, and I have always managed to keep myself away from those messes. In these three years of experiences, I have been drawn into this twice. Once last year with Alcohol, and once early this year with Marijuana. I wont deny it, I have weaknesses; but I always have managed to overcome these, and only my curiosity has gotten the better of me.
My family has quite a bit of experience with Law Enforcement. My mother worked with sexually abused children, and testified at their trials. My grandfather works with the Olympia PD harbor patrol. My dad took on a Trooper who crashed into him head on. I am planning on going with my grandfather and getting experience with the Harbor Patrol, and was in the car that the Trooper hit. I’ve had my share of experiences.
For a long time, I thought that my future career was going to be as a suit in Corporate America. But then as I entered business classes, I realized how boring these jobs are, and images of suicidal businessmen on rooftops filled my head. I immediately went to my schools job center, and researched a career in Law Enforcement. I was lucky enough to discover the Olympia PD post. If I can get this position, I know that this will help me towards a future career as an Officer of the Peace.
Police Officers are truly amazing people. All the sh*t they deal with to protect the citizens of their country is stunning. The entire country is against the Police, simply because they are doing their job and enforcing the laws. I want to be a Police Officer so I can be the man that changes at least a few people minds about Law Enforcement through kind but firm words. The knowledge that I would be doing a great service to my community and indeed my country is enough for me.
For all the reasons listed above, I urge you to accept me into your post, where I can begin at a young age to help my community and get a jumpstart at a lifelong career with law Enforcement.
