brief bathing suites

I'm in Orlando, Fl on vacation and I was at the pool. Many people travel here from different countries. I saw two boys in brief bathing suites. What countries is it normal to wear them? And do any of you wear them for just everyday swimming (not competitive)?

my friends and me wear them at the beach and this year it seems more boys are wearing them

I've always done this...If I wanna dip in the pool and have nothing to wear...me and my friends just take out jeans off and swim in out briefs..tnen ride home commando.

I assume you're talking about speedos (as you guys call em).

It's pretty normal to wear them here in France. Most guys I know wear them. You're required to wear swim briefs at pools, though you don't have to wear them at the beach. I wear them because I find them comfortable and they don't drip as much as board shorts do. It's actually pretty normal in most of continental Europe.

In fact, I'm wearing a pair right now. I went to the beach with my older brothers this morning and we all wore them. We've got a pool in our yard since we're going in the pool again later.
