elephants

Elephants are some of my favourite animals, both scientificaly interesting and just lovable creatures.

They are just so social,
so smart,
and even emotional.
Elephants grieve for their dead, they can love and play,
and they can really show it too.
Elephants can grow attached to not just other elephants but also humans.

THEY CAN LEARN HOW TO PAINNNT.
I mean come on!

As for science,
they aren't just smart, there's much more!
Most people concider dolphins to be the smartest and most sophisticated animals,
but I disaggree;
not only do elephants pass all self awarenes tests,
they have one thing dolphins don't ;;;
tool handling.
For some reason everyone seems to forget,
what one of the main purposes of their proboscis is!
They can pick up things with them,
place things on the ground in ordered fashion,
AND THEY CAN PAINT...

As a matter of fact, they can be trained and taught to do almost anything in a short period of time,
so they are useful too!

yes, that painting video is real.
Ofcourse they have been taught to paint that,
but look at the precision!
And nobody is helping them to do that,
they can actualy do that.

We should be focusing on giving them good lives and allowing them to expand their intelligence, otherwise we'll stay the only species this intelligent forever.

I'm always very captivated by elephants. I sometimes wonder if they were aliens or left behind by aliens, because there is nothing else quite like them :P They're incredible creatures, I'd love to touch one. I've only seen them in person at zoos and zoos are sad places.

While its cool that elephants paint, that is the result of prolonged animal abuse.

I know!
I was at a wildlife safari park thingy once they seemed really happy there.
I also saw them in a zoo once, there were 3 of them,
and they were clearly having a fight over who got the branch (a tree branch fell off and one of them picked it up and appearently he immediatly became the leader haha)

You are kidding right?
There was no abuse.
That's an elephant sanctuary, they are treated with the best possible care.
They are taught to paint without corrective punishments.

this is one being taught how to do a new painting.
I don't see how it would be concidered abuse;
outside of their painting time they are in a a large natural habitat,
it's not like they are locked up as animals in a zoo often are.
