So as of recent events, I've seen some extremely weird things going on with the world.

In Yellowstone Nation Park here in the United States, there have been some volcanic activity, in some parts of the Mid. US, there have been reports of "beams of light shooting up from the ground," and many others.

If I'm not mistaken, I do think that part of the bible's "Revelations" is coming true, don't you agree?

I would love to have a discussion with this, please (below) tell me if you agree or disagree with me. I wouldn't mind knowing what you think.

Thanks!

I should point out, I'm an avid atheist. I detest the thought of most religions, including yours (sorry if that offends, welcome to the internet). So I may not be the top candidate for this debate.
As for Yellowstone, its a volcano, 5000 years overdue...what do you expect it too do?
Those lights are odd however. But if were going to take the lights into account for serious debate, let's also listen to the UFO stories and the Ghosts.

This topic is stupid. There is absolutely zero solid evidence to suggest that the world is about to end, or that the rapture is coming, or that anything in the bible is even remotely true. The recent hectic weather patterns worldwide can be attributed to climate change. Which just so happens to have mountains of evidence supporting it's existence.

No.

Look, I really don't want to bash your religion or anything, but you'd have to be a fool to try to say that the world is ending because of something the bible says. Have you read Revelations? Of all the books in the bible, that has to be the most bullshit one. It's made to scare people and if you have even the slightest bit of common sense you'll realize that. Even preachers and pastors who follow the bible can't fully explain or understand revelations.

Your sarcasm and emotionless astounds me. Tell me, do you blame everything on God? If anything God is angry about the corruption of the world and the evil done in his own name! God hasn't judged humanity in millenia, it'll happen soon. God loves even the gays and bisexuals which outnumber gays by the way. Please mention everyone from here to queer. God even loved you. Neither of you are a god. You both have no right to call any beliefs absurd. Beliefs don't need proving because you don't prove what you believe or justify it, you believe it. Learn this now, being atheist does not equal being anti-religion or in your case the religious. So you want no one to feel bad? Then watch what you say. So you use the law the justify your hatred? A person's religion is a big part of them. Why hate it and use the law to justify it? That's like how the US was against all Japanese people during WW2. Evidence is fine, but the evidence with religion is a person's words and quotes. To you a person has no proof if they are religious? That is low, militant, and cruel. I'm a Christian, but I have to disagree here. You won't find anything in the Bible that supports that theory of volcanic activity and light beams shooting up from the ground. That's only one more consequence of the unrealistic conception people have of "The End Of The World", like a black hole will eat the planet, or major disasters such as earthquakes, volcanoes and tsunamis will happen everywhere. Mankind thinks they can predict everything, but they can't.

Camazotz

According to the National Park Service (http://www.nps.gov/yell/naturescience/volcanoqa.htm)...

"There is no evidence that a catastrophic eruption at Yellowstone National Park (YNP) is imminent. Current geologic activity at Yellowstone has remained relatively constant since earth scientists first started monitoring some 30 years ago. Though another caldera-forming eruption is theoretically possible, it is very unlikely to occur in the next thousand or even 10,000 years.

The most likely activity would be lava flows such as those that occurred after the last major eruption. Such a lava flow would ooze slowly over months and years, allowing plenty of time for park managers to evaluate the situation and protect people. No scientific evidence indicates such a lava flow will occur soon."

...

The science of forecasting a volcanic eruption has significantly advanced over the past 25 years. Most scientists think that the buildup preceding a catastrophic eruption would be detectable for weeks and perhaps months to years. Precursors to volcanic eruptions include strong earthquake swarms and rapid ground deformation and typically take place days to weeks before an actual eruption. Scientists at the YVO closely monitor the Yellowstone region for such precursors. They expect that the buildup to larger eruptions would include intense precursory activity (far exceeding background levels) at multiple spots within the Yellowstone volcano. As at many caldera systems around the world, small earthquakes, ground uplift and subsidence, and gas releases at Yellowstone are commonplace events and do not reflect impending eruptions.

As for abnormal weather/climate patterns, the obvious answer is global warming. Not sure what else I need to say; most people agree with me, but the people that deny global warming exists won't accept any scientific evidence we provide, so...

You do not question religion.
I find this stance - because it is just a stance, an opinion - to be an incredibly unhealthy one to take. You might not want your beliefs to be subject to critical analysis, and that's fair enough - ignorance is bliss, etc. but if you are going to put them forward in the context of (sometimes) intellectual discussion and debate, there's zero reason why we should hold them above the other opinions. You don't have a monopoly on the truth, and we shouldn't have to pretend like you do.

On topic, it's definitely aliens.

It's not about me. It's a general rule. You never insult someone's beliefs.

But, you said: "You do not question religion." Do you retract that statement?

Regardless, define: 'Insult'. Does it encompass questioning?

Religion, beliefs, faith, you don't insult either. It's not something you do. I'm not picking at your atheism so I'd ask you not to pick at Christianity as a whole when you'll never understand the mind of a Christian since you aren't one. That's like me belittling a Buddhist because I'm not Buddhist. That's just not right. You never pick at buttons and religion is a button.

You didn't answer either of my questions. Please answer my questions.

I do answer your questions, but since they have my religious beliefs behind them you don't accept them.

No, I'm not accepting the response because it didn't answer either question I put forward. I'll repost:

Insulting includes undermining and refusal of words. I give you my words but you never take them and have me repeat myself? How does that solve anything. At least say "I do not agree, but whatever." Something other than "That proves nothing."

Why'd I retract anything. Insulting religion is bad.

Firstly, you weren't repeating yourself, because you didn't answer my question the first time.

Secondly, would I be correct to say that you would be insulted if, in the context of discussing religion, I questioned your beliefs ("undermined") or didn't accept your argument ("refusal of words")?

You originally said that one shouldn't 'question' religion. I'm asking if you still stand by that.

That's the same as insulting it. You do neither, insult or question. It's deeply rooted in a person.

Okay. Thank you for clearing that up.

I'm not going to self-censor myself, however.
