Many people would say that archery is actually not a sport...
I think it is. I love archery and have been competing for two years now.
What are your thoughts?

If you are hunting with a now and arrow, I think so. Just shooting targets with an arrow. Not sure if that is

I think archery is a sport, in all forms. I've tried outdoor and indoor targets, as well as less traditional ones at fairs and things. I'm no professional or even very good, but I can tell it's certainly a sport.

It is a sport which like other activities can also be enjoyed as recreation.

It takes skill to shoot a bow well, and I see it in the olympics, so it's a sport.

Yep, it's totally a sport, and a hard one at that.

Competitive archery is a sport, hunting archery isn't.

Yes, Archery is defiantly a sport, it takes skill and physical activity. If that's not a sport then what is?

an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment.
I would say that competitive archery is a sport but simple target practice and hunting aren't.

I'm sorry Gamma but I'm going to have to disagree.
Whilst I dislike random killing of animals, unless your going to eat it. Hunting is a sport, as it takes the same skill as competitive. whilst you have to hit a possibly moving target, and stay deathly quiet.
And I think target practice is a sport as well. That's like saying running isn't a sport till your competing with Moh Farah. I don't quite understand what angle your coming from here. :what:

A sport is where multiple people compete against one another on equal footing to see who has more skill. Hunting is where one or more people equipped with guns shoot herbivores from 200 feet away. Give the deer shotguns and then you can call it a sport.

I'm not sure hunting is much of a sport, but it is competitive in its own sense.

Archery is positively a sport. An Olympic sport at that.
