View Full Version : Why's everything so weird...Or is it just me?

No offence to anyone, but on these puberty forums everyone just seem to be all "yay masturbation, sex, nudity!" And it all just seems a bit weird and not really related to pubertal changes.

That's all fine but is it weird I'm rather grossed out by all of this? One survey said "how often do you masturbate?" and most people replied with everyday. For me...I don't. I never masturbate and honestly I'm 17 now and the last time I masturbated was then I was 14/15. Is that weird?

Also people seem to be saying they lost their virginity when they were like 15 and have noshed off like the boys, how is it possible so many people have done this? I don't "experiment" with my friends and I don't really want to have sex, it just doesn't appeal to me and the whole 'penis in vagina' thing really seems a no no.

Any nudity as well, everyone here - and no offence indented - seems to sleep naked and wall around naked with friends, why?! I absolutely hate being naked and spend like 3 minutes in the shower I can put some clothes on.

Like I said no offence to anyone, but most people just seems all about masturbating, nuditity and asking about penis and breast size - I don't wanna tell anyone that! But I'm just saying cause some of the things people say they've done with friends I'd never do! Is it everyone else is weird or just me?!

well the ppl who are going to fill in that kind of info on surveys are the ones it applies to. so you'll see more yes responses then no responses. if there was a survey about a boy's experiences with a girl, i would probably not bother filling it out, rather then write "none" "n/a" on each question.

what you do or don't do isn't "weird" it's just how you operate.
if you think a survey is inappropriate then hit the report button. the mods are very quick about removing stuff that doesn't have to do with puberty.

Yes, this seems to be more about those sort of people. Doesn't make them weird in any way.

Also, hey, start masturbating. It decreases risk of prostate cancer.

I find it's one of the joys of this site. It proves we are all different. And that we can get polar extremes. For some of us, we can get horny like there's no tomorrow, and J/o all the time. Others just don't have that hormone level and don't find these things interesting. It's a personal journey for all of us.

I think the people who post here in P101 the most are those who are curious about masturbation, sex, etc. I'm sure there are plenty of members on VT who aren't interested or don't care, so they don't post in here. It's the same with any other section, if you don't know anything about and/or are not interested in the forum topic, don't post there. There are also a higher percentage of teens who masturbate than those who don't, and the minority aren't very active here, because P101 doesn't interest them. I'm re-reading this and can't tell if this makes sense or not, so hopefully it does..

Like already mentioned, it's all about the hormones kicking in, discovering masturbation, being curious, and not to mention being able to share and ask, so I guess that's it. :)

For me I discovered masturbation and I hated it, never did it again and I doubt I'll ever want sex, it just seems eww. I know I've started puberty and am flying though it, I've discovered my gender identity, sexuality and all sorts. Sure I've got hormones and I get turned on at time but it's not like an urge to do anything and it goes pretty much straight away :/. Obviously, yes I'm asexual but it just seems weird imo, it's the same with my 'friends' at school :/

Just because u don't like the stuff I consider a normal teenager would talk about doesn't mean u have to bash people and puberty and other peoples views. If u find it weird what all they post are masturbating and etc. Come up with a different topic then. But don't bash people and then say no of fence constantly, its like u want ppl to take of fence. Yh that's it!!!

'Ya know, it's funny that I have thought the exact same thing myself.. just never had the courage to write it. I'm on the same mental track as the Passenger. Guess everyone's different, what more to say?

All of this is completely normal. People are entitled to their own decisions and quite frankly I've began to realize how ridiculous some of this is as well. All I have to say is, props to you for voicing your opinion.

Like was said above, P101's population sample in each thread is skewed to the people who not only fit into the questions asked, but feel strongly enough to actually answer. No survey sample is perfect, and if you truly got honest answers from every VT member every time, your (very reasonable) observations would be very different.

I agree. I'm not super open to talk about "how big my dick is" and how often I masturbate. Doesn't mean I hate it, it's just not my cup of tea.

You make some interesting points however you also have to keep in mind.... Guys ask is it normal ? do you do it ? Am I the only one ? What should I do ? basically and other guys answer. Guys compare they're genital parts to others
because one they wanna know and they may feel subconscious about they're size and want to know if they're too small or something like that. Other guys ask about sex and we give them answers , and not all guys like and or sleep naked. I can't stand being naked , I don't like showering but I do it anyway. If you don't wanna post anything about you or your body that's fine , Those forums were made for that purpose and they're being used for exactly that purpose. Its not weird , its puberty.

Im not being mean I am using a *reagular speaking tone*

Puberty is weird

Life is weird yet we live it everyday. I understand that you are asexual and gendefluid but obviously a lot of people in P101 aren't. Is it wrong? No, just different. You could always make asexual/anti-nudity/genderfluid/no masturbation/whatever threads if you want. For me a person like that wouldn't work for my romantic life. I want someone fiery, sexual, and romantic. I want love, I want sex, and I want to eexplore my gender all while staying male. I may not be totally sexual but hey, I still am curious. It all goes back to differences. Some people are sex pigs, some are sexual nuns. Some are nudists, some are never nude.

Obviously they say these things here because they are tabboo in real life and still things that need to be talked about, as sex is a part of life just as puberty is.

Im sorry, but with due respect, people who whine about any forum (it could be the arts forum for all I care) having undesirable content really piss me off. If you have an issue with the content in p101, nobody is forcing you to go into it and read through the threads. You wouldn't eat your veggies if you dislike them and your parents say "It's okay, you don't need to eat them", do you?

You have your opinions on things, and that's great. Freedom of mind and creativity is a wonderful thing, but you don't need to go into the forum if it makes you uncomfortable, or "weirded out."

Just don't worry about it. Only tell what you're comfortable telling and only think what you want to think. Don't let anyone change your mind or opinion. Be you!

Well, we all live differently. Thay being, said, if everyone is different, then no one is normal or everyone is normal. That being said, it's not weird that you're not interested in masturbation. It's fine.

I totally agree with this statement
But the puberty forums here seem to be by far the most active post sections in comparison to the other sections.
So thats why i mainly post here.
I also learned to be pretty open on these forums and this section.

Is puberal a word? It's not in my dictionary.

Hermes
June 10th, 2014, 12:16 PM
So what is "puberty-related"? Some people may think only about physical changes, some may add the emotional ones. I'd take a pretty wide definition and say that it is about physical changes, emotional changes and the behaviour that results from those so that therefore includes discussion of body image, masturbation, sexual desire and, ultimately, having sex.

So these things are discussed here more than they are in real life. Isn't that part of the point of having such a forum because people don't feel as comfortable discussing these things in real life as they do here with the relative anonymity of people who don't know them personally?

As others have mentioned there will be self selection bias in the the survey answers.

And to Passenger you have declared some non-mainstream traits. Hopefully everyone will ackowledge that whether they can understand them or not is not important - they are normal for you and you don't have to justify them. It is the same with people who are more or less comfortable with nudity, are hornier or not so horny, want to experiment or would feel embarassed to etc.
