What should I use and what should I do to not let it get irritated or any ingrown hairs?

Use the same things you'd normally do for shaving facial hair (if you do). I recommend taking a warm bath or shower before to. Also try trimming it first if the hair is pretty long

If its grown out of control and ur hand isn't shaking out of control, CAREFULLY use scissors. And do NOT cut urself.

i just use a normal razor and i havent had any problems

Dont razor shave!! use an electric trimmer, they work the best :)

Razor shaves worked fine for me. Just go slow and be careful.
