I like it when photography talks to me... I know that sounds weird.
It can inspire thoughts in me. Photos can bring up past memories or comfort you. Photography is capable of anything and that's what I love about it.

I love being able to capture life, emotion, and a piece of time that can never be replicated in the exact same way. Each photograph is unique, even if they use the same subject.

I like looking at photos more than videos sometimes because of the way photos seem to capture things a video can't, whereas a video just shows images as they are I feel like photo's show what it's like to really see something for yourself.
It's hard to explain.

I like it because of the ability to freeze a moment in time and keep that moment forever. There's nothing quite like a good photo to bring back memories :) I also like the sense of satisfaction you get when you try something new and it works really nicely :P

Being able to capture a moment forever.
And depending on how much Gimp I can be bothered with it can be as perfect as I want.
Often a photo can catch, or create, something that a video just can't capture

It's basically memories frozen in time.

Photos capture so many things - just a moment in time - nature pics I like as well as say pics of graffiti or art in streetscapes

I like it because you get the ability to capture a beautiful moment in time. Life goes by and time goes on, there's nothing to do to go back. Photography gives you the ability to keep a memento

I'm in control and I make the image.

When I took photographies a couple years ago, I liked capturing the brightest look of things, anything that had conceptual beauty to it, or just something that striked me as beautiful.

It's a means of expression of self for the photographer. What feelings it evokes in those who then look at the photo is also what makes it so satisfying, I'd say.
