I've been working out recently, running, push ups and sit ups. Running I have no problem with, sit ups are fine too, but I have a problem with push ups.
For days after I do a few sets the muscles in my arms and chest burn when under load. Have I managed to somehow hurt them? Or is it normal for them to burn for days after?
Its not just burning after a work out, its burning every time I move them, even itpf its just pucking up my bag. Have I hurt myself, is that normal, is there any way too stop it?

Is it muscle or joint pain???
Simple test: move your arm.
Then get someone else to move your arm through the same range of motion (so you aren't using your muscles)
If it still hurts then it's likely joint pain and you should wait until the pain is completely gone until you work out again.

You probably started out to heavily; it's better to not really push yourself untill you've gone easy on it for a while

Before any exercise, you should warm up a bit, maybe 2 minutes, just some small exercises to train your muscles for the effort they're going to do next. And then, after exercising, you need to make sure you do stretching exercises, for 2 minutes as well it should be enough. Just stretch the muscles you exercised before, to avoid that "burning" pain you described. If you were not used to working out, it's normal to feel that pain, but it will eventually lessen after your body gets used to it.

If you do the same workout each day, your muscles will be soar and won't be ready the next day. If your muscles are soar, they won't be able to get strong. They need time to recooperate and recover. Maybe try pushups one day, sit-ups the next, then leg excercises the next day. Then give yourself a day to rest. Then pushups the next day and so on. Also the fact that you are running a lot should help with the pain. Also always stretch before a workout

I figured out what it was, I over worked myself. This is a common thing. As it transpires that pain is hundreds of "micro tears" in the muscle of my arm. In a few days they will have healed and it should theoretically be fine. But from now on I will take it a little bit softer until I'm used to it.
