I honestly can't stand music on a loop. I usually listen to fast paced 80's hard rock and metal as well as Pink Floyd and Rush

For deep relaxation I listen to Earth, with it's droning and melancholic chords. If I don't want to think of the lyrics much, I'll put Sithu Aye, Plini or Animals As Leaders in the background.

There's a guy called Kurt Vile that makes music that's mellow, but not too mellow. I can't stand songs that are too slow and boring, but he balances the scales pretty well and it sounds both chilled out and interesting. I absolutely love this song:
