The following is not me promoting illegal activity
Does your town or city have a street racing scene? Our capitol city, Saint Paul has a huge get together from time to time where kids ranging from as low as 16 to 30 race their modified entry level Hondas, Toyotas, Chevys, Mitsubishis, etc and in rare cases their upscale sports cars in drag races. I've always wanted to go and spectate because the whole thing seems while dangerous and illegal, seems interesting since I'm a huge car guy.

The closest thing we have to that round here is chavs racing each other in housing estates.
(It has just come to my attention, Americans may not know what a "chav" is....wow. A chav is basically the lowest of the low in IQ, always wearing a track suit or slutty clothing, generally aggressive and ill mannered and use perticuarly vulger vocabulary as often as possible. You know the sort of person I mean)
Anyway, that's about it for us. Chavs racing each other in housing estates with shity "pimped" 1.2L VW's.

Yeah, here in the states, they're called wannabes as in they're tryingto be gangsters in their piece-of-shit Hondas that do 0-100 km/h in like 9 seconds

Well, we've both learnt something today. I generally don't like the street race scene, I never feel comfortable around them. However I do like the biker scene. Be it racing or just riding for fun.
BTW, I'm listening to Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd. Just thought I'd mention since...well...you know.

Around here, street racers do it for fun, generally. They're enthusiasts that like to get with other enthusiasts and race. There's little trash talk. And I'm actually listening to Hey You... lol

That song gives me a contact high. :P
Back to the OP, I know there is street racing that goes on, but I don't know where they gather and what the deal is. I hear them at night often.

I don't know the details of it, but from time to time they do races out on Caņada road, which seems like it would be really, really fun:

When I go on ride alongs with my dad we can hear em but we don't go cause usually they'll be gone moved to a new spot when we get there but one time we caught like 30 cars in one area and so we his at a intersection halfway down their"strip" flipped on the blue light and sirens and went tearing down there. Boy you should have seen them scatter haha. Those police charger look intimidating when they're charging you down at 120.

There's pretty much zero crime where I live so cops have nothing to do but give speeding tickets and bust parties - so naturally there is really no street racing. But I live half an hour from Sonoma Raceway and on Wednesdays you can go up there and drag race your car verse other people or the police. They also have like amateur drift days and stuff.
There are some incredible roads near me (See Highway 1 north of SF) where you always see exotics cruising and stuff on early weekend mornings, but not a lot of racing.

Yeah my town does, on my street! If you wanna be a drunk idiot and get arrested go ahead! -.- The guy down my street does not learn from his mistakes. He's probably been arrested (or he got a ticket) at least 7 times now.

Well I live in a suburb about 30 miles away. I would have to have one hell of an alibi to be able to go there and spectate late at night like that.

Around midnight on C-470 (highway here) there's some racing. Most are bikers but sometimes there are some cars doing stuff. I'm still surprised they haven't been caught yet.

As far as I'm aware, there is no street racing seen here in Berlin - or really in Germany. Most of our streets in cities aren't wide enough to race on properly, all of Germany is made to accommodate small to medium sized cars, our parking spots are far too small for some of the big cars that people commonly drive in the USA - as a result, our streets aren't wide enough for many racing maneuvers.
We also have the Autobahn, on big parts of which you are legally allowed to drive as fast as you want to, so people seem to have less desire to illegally do it.

There's a decent-ish scene round here if you know where to look, every month or so we have meets that can end up with around 200 cars at them. They always lead to racing afterwards but not everyone does. The cruises are usually full of police as well, its more stand about and talk about your cars to each other than a race meet. As with any other place though we also get the rejects trying to do handbrake turns in there 1.0l puddle jumpers.

Like cosmicnoodle said, in my area I get a lot of Chavs/wannabes. Most charge around in 1.2ltr 4 cylinder cars. Often VW golfs, Vauxhall Corsas, Citroen Saxos, Renault Clio's and Peugeot 106s. The occasional honda civic comes around. We also have a few sports/super cars around. But they don't race around like the chavs do. I'm actually interested in modified cars. But not when they look and sound like crap. I like tuned Muscle cars.

If I remember right there aren't that many Honda Civics in Europe. I really only saw the new hatchback Civics that aren't sold here in the states. Here, they're everywhere, and like half of them have those stupid loud exhausts.

"Driving clubs" often have cruises here which are either competitive or follow a "go as fast as physically possible and make the road as unsafe as you can" rule of thumb.

I know nothing about it, but there seems to be a bunch of illegal drag racing in western Sydney. Last night someone was killed in one at Seven Hills and someone else was killed in another one last week too.

Civics are actually pretty common here, the shapes are different like the fn2 in Europe is the equivalent to the fd2 in the US. I've got an fn2 type r myself so maybe I just notice them more. Mine doesn't have the stupid exhaust and stuff though:P

Where I live I can hear them almost every night around 11 or 12, especially in the summer.
I'm amazed that nobody's died yet seeing as it's on 2-lane roads that aren't that wide.

There's a long stretch of blacktop that leads outta town. It's popular for a couple pickups to burn rubber or hitch up to each other and see who gets towed. I've raced my 77 Chevy a couple times and haven't lost yet. I'm 13 for 4 towing. Diesels usually win there. But there's no cops around, so we just go wild. But all the other roads around here are dirt and windy.
