I need advice

Long story short, my dad is making my boyfriend and I "take a break" for a month because we did some things that he didn't like. I know that the only way that we can ever have a happy relationship again is if we follow his rules, but my boyfriend thinks that I don't care about him because I'm on board with "taking a break." I mean, I don't want to spend time away from him because I love him, but I know that the only way we can get our relationship back is if we do this. How do I handle this?
