You can ask a mod to deactivate. or be inappropriate in the chat room.

Well, the 2nd option isn't really necessary.

All you have to do is contact one of the admins ( xXl0sth0peXx or ImCoolBeans ) and request a ban.

You can't deactivate your account. If you want to stop using it, you can log out and not sign in again. You can also request a ban.

Or be inappropriate in the chat room? Thanks man, that was really appropriate of you. From a more established user I would hope you wouldn't be giving that kind of bad advice to new users.

I know on facebook and twitter you can deactivate your account and eventually it just gets deleted off the records. I've seen some people who are frozen and that to me seems like the same kind of thing, except that the account doesn't get deleted ... but I wouldn't know of how to do that and it all depends if you intend to come back later on. I'm sure that's something you'd also have to ask for

Freezing is only temporary.

You should request a ban OR change your password to gibberish. You may want to take all your personal info away (or change it completely).

I will say though Mike, just idealistically speaking, it would be nice if there was an additional ban face that said something like "requested ban". When i was lurking here before i turned 13, there was someone i really liked and then he got banned and i was like WHY?! but if then saw he posted on his wall he requested a ban. and then there's umpteen people who have asked me why a popular member i was friends with was banned and he also requested ban.

I'm all up for this. It'd be nice to see we were not wrong thinking theywould never do something bad.

Just because someone says they requested a ban - that doesn't mean they actually did. People lie all the time online.

Do you really think that people who were caught camming, cybering, or being fake are going to tell other people the truth about why they were banned?

I don't think this is necessary at all, on a different note. Ban reasons are traditionally private, out of respect for the person who was banned. It's not everyone else's business why they were banned - requested or not.

no i was just saying if that was the case that it really was requested like op might do. but just idealistically not realistically, because it really doesn't matter. more people i like who are gone just fell off the radar more then anything else.

I don't think somebody requesting a ban needs more attention drawn to it. If somebody wants to be banned, then they are banned, and it's up to them whether they want to tell people or not, not us. Also, not everybody who requested a ban is telling you the truth.

I would love to have a separate face for requested bans. :)

right, i was just thinking whimsically about that, like it would be nice if you got a slice of pizza every time you log in VT. I didn't think about the lying about requesting one part, us auties tend to be a little gullible and naive sometimes about stuff like that.
