Teen Girl Doctor Visit

Hi I'm a 16 year old girl and am going for a yearly physical exam with my pediatrician. He's a male and this is my first time seeing him but I'm fine with having a male doctor. I haven't been to the doctor since I was 12 or so, so I'm a little nervous about what he will all do at the physical. Can someone please describe in detail what will all happen. GIRLS ONLY PLEASE!
1.Do I have to take off all of my clothes
2. Will he touch my boobs/ what will he do to them
3. Will he touch my stomach and what exactly does he do?
4. Will he look at/touch or feel my vagina
5. Will he feel for my female organs?

You'll probably have to take off all your clothes, but he'll probably leave the room when you change and give you a gown to put on. He may touch your breasts but probably not your nipples to examine how they are growing and checking for cancer. It is unlikely he will perform any sort of vaginal exam unless there is a reason to - for example, you think you have a UTI (Urinary Tract Infection). He will probably touch your stomach to feel that everything inside is okay, no constipation etc. I'm not sure what exactly you mean by feel for your female organs.

This is just my experience with my pediatrician. I'm actually going in for my yearly physical tomorrow, so if you still want more info, I'd be happy to let you know what she does, afterwards.

If anything he does makes you uncomfortable, let him know. If he's a good doctor, the last thing he wants is for you to be uncomfortable or uneasy. It should be over fairly quickly. As you're 16, you will probably not get any vaccinations, if you got some when you were 12. Unless he's presented with a reason to give you a vaccination or take blood you shouldn't have to worry about shots.

Just like Hannah said. I talk to other girls that go to the same doctor. Everyone is very comfortable with my doctor. Before I saw my sister get naked and stayed naked for the entire time. She even walk out and went to the scale and sat down to get blood drawn. I saw her doing this and thought it was weird. She was just comfortable. I even saw another girl do this too. Last month, I had to go. My mom went with me. I got naked and sat on that examination bench. The nurse came in, asked me a few questions then we walked down the hallway to the scale. I'd asked if I was ok walking naked. She said a lot of girls does it now and hardly no one wants to have a gown. I thought that was strange. My mom was with me all the way. We went back and the Dr. came in. He did his job and left. He'd touch my female parts and talked to me. Then the nurse came back we walked towards the back to get some blood. She laughed and said that I could've got dressed but it was ok. I wasn't the only one that did this. But overall I had a good experience. I was comfortable with everything and everyone.

Same as Hannah and Vicki, it depends on your doctor. In my experience, I've had all those places examined by my pediatrician before. It just depends on the individual doctor and what he/she thinks is necessary.

that sounds kinda fun...to just be naked and not care. i think i might try that next time. the gowns are so uncomfortable

I know it's silly but I get so nervous before going to the doctor. It never ends up being as bad as I expected though. My doctor always has a quick look at everything but it's the questions I hate the most. I know they're just trying to be helpful but I'm so embarrassed when they talk to me about puberty and stuff.

I've had much the same experience when getting examined. I haven't had the anal part, but they did think I might have an ovarian infection so I did have to get examined down there, including a temperature in my vjayjay- that really sucked.

You'll probably get touched but he's a trained doctor and you shouldn't feel too bad about it. It's just an examination.
