View Full Version : VT Arcade Post Count!

I think it would be a really interesting idea if we could have a separate post count for the VT Arcade. This post count would only appear within the VT Arcade and possibly alongside (maybe in parenthesis) the true postcount.

It'd be really interesting to know how many post Chaotic Trickster really has. :P Maybe it could spark some more attention to the Arcade? i don't know. Then again, i'm not sure if this is programmatically feasible.

Waddya thinks?

I don't think this is possible to do. While it might be interesting, I don't think I'd want it on VT either. I think people would spam the arcade more than they do, and it'd be come a contest to get the highest arcade post count.

It is a neat thought though.

I understand. Maybe on the 'Statistics' part of your profile, just a cute plus?
But yeah, probably not possible to implement :L

I don't think the arcade really needs a post count. People would spam to get a higher post count, even if it is just the arcade. It'd get sort of ridiculous and we don't need more competition. I can already tell there is a competition for regular post count.

Arcade is bad enough as it is with a lot of other people spamming it... so I myself don't think any post count for it would be a good idea, but I do think the Introductions forum SHOULD be included in the count, in a way.. :what:

People would probably spam the introduction forums with the generic welcome. I think we should leave the post count the way it currently is because I don't see a problem with the current method.

Is there a difference between "spamming" and interacting with each other?
i mean why is that seem to be a bad thing? some of the best bonding with others i've had has taken place in "spam" threads. *rant over, sorry*

To a degree, yes. For example, just posting city names or numbers in Arcade threads shouldn't be added to post count because they're generally nothing but one-word contributions, that if they were posted anywhere else, would be seen as spam. Sure, there are some "conversation threads" in the Arcade which are different, but since we can't turn on post count for some threads in a forum and not others, those won't be counting either.

oh i don't think there should be a post count for any of it. just seems like arcade interaction threads are looked down on in in general in most forums. someone in another forum recently called it "worthless mindless spam". i mean like i'm sorry whoever, but i go on forums to have fun. help people too, yeah. but to also unwind and interact. Now if i did 10 replies to an H&A thread that needed only 1 reply from me, that's what i would call spamming.

The post counts method is already fine...
It was a nice thought for a separate post count for the arcade but I do think VT Arcade is still a fun place with or without post counts. ;)

One word:

Spamming.

I dunno why post count is so important anyway...and I guess it would just lead to New members excessively spamming the Arcade threads to reach there 100 posts.
