View Full Version : Woman freaks out over gay kiss on ESPN.

It's a shame, really, that D Magazine didn't continue its morning show experiment. Not because we derived any pleasure from watching D: The Broadcast (we probably wouldn't have, but never say never) but because it would have been mildly wonderful to watch Wick Allison dance away from yesterday morning's Michael Sam bit.

As it is, D cut ties with the program back in August and the show continued as, simply, The Broadcast, meaning that co-host Amy Kushnir's tantrum over gay NFL draftee Michael Sam kissing his boyfriend will have to stand on its own without further allusions to our glossy media brethren.

That's fine, because Kushnir has no trouble letting us know how she really feels:

When parents do not have a choice about whether or not they want their children to see this, it is wrong...I don't call it a moment of celebration...It's being pushed in faces. I wanna say get a room. I don't want to see that. I don't want to see cake in your face, kissing each other.

Two of her three co-hosts, Lisa Pineiro and Courtney Kerr, call Kushnir out (Kerr says comments critical of Sam "are just as racist" as Clippers owner Donald Sterling's comments about racial minorities), thus prompting her to storm off the set in a huff.

Entertaining though Kushnir's outburst may have been, it was the third co-host, Suzie Humphreys, who offered the constitutional justification on her behalf.

"I'm shaking my head because people don't have a right to express how they feel if it offends somebody else," she says, perhaps unaware that she and Kushnir are doing exactly that on a live television broadcast. "I live in America! I still feel like I have the right to freedom of speech, and I don't have to be penalized for my opinions."
Yes, she has a legal right to be offended at a gay kiss airing on tv. Just like ESPN has a legal right to air a gay kiss on tv, and I have a legal right to call her out for the talentless, homophobic, jarhead, waste of flesh bitch that she is. You don't like what you see on tv? Change the fucking channel. It's not that hard.

I was quite shocked by it to be perfectly honest. I mean why would anyone celebrate being drafted by the St. Louis Rams?

You know how sometimes you just wonder why some people are allowed to speak along with the rest of humanity...this is that time...

I'm not gonna sugar coat it, she is a homophobic bitch and I have every right to say that, just like she has every right to be a homophobic bitch. So fuckin what two guys kissed? Guess what? I wish television showed more of two guys in love than wives cheating on their fuckin husbands. Gosh straights are such fuckin hypocrites.

I think she's every right to be offended, but that doesn't make her homophobic. Tolerance goes both ways.

Isn't that worse than her reaction? And that is kind of heterophobic actually. If a person is offended, fine, but don't call them a b*tch because of it. That person just isn't comfortable with it. There is quite a bit of gay influence in the media today. Anyone who disagrees with gay anything is instantly bashed and that is not tolerant at all.

I 100% agree.
but that doesn't make her homophobic.

Tolerance goes both ways.
You're saying we should be tolerant toward intolerant people?

Those people deserve to be called out for what they are. What if they had aired an interracial kiss, and she had been offended and disgusted at that? Would you still be defending her?

You should be tolerant to even your defined "intolerant" people. I typically avoid gay stuff because most gays I've met are very intolerant to other opinions. How does being selective in tolerance help? It's an opinion not a declaration of war.

You know what, yes. I would not agree with her, but at least she isn't killing someone because of it. And so what you're just going to belittle anyone not on the gay bandwagon? Homophobic technically means fear of homosexuality. This woman was perturbed.

Are you fucking serious? She's an intolerant bitch. I don't usually get mad during online conversations, but when someone criticizes me for wanting equal rights, and calls me intolerant because I call out people for the homophobic bigots they are, that's tends to piss me off.

Yes, those POOR POOR homophobes are being SOOOOOO discriminated against!
"WAAAAAAAHHH!!!! WAAAAAHHH! " I got called a bigot because I don't like gay people!" :( Those gays are so mean and intolerant!"

Well you know what? There aren't people being fucking murdered for being straight right now. There aren't people being beaten half to death and then raped in Russia for being straigh. There aren't gay people telling children they'll go to hell for being straight. There aren't gay groups trying to ban heterosexual marriage. There aren't gay politicians accusing straight people of causing tornadoes. There aren'thate groups picketing children's funerals because the parents were straight.

When all that shit starts happening to straight people? Then we can talk about gays being bigoted. But until then, I have every right to criticize her for having bigoted views.

Newsflash, the whole world has problems. If isn't gays it's Jews. If it's Jews it's the poor. If it isn't the poor it's those at the mercy of corruption. And so now it's okay for gays to run over everyone else? Wow, you really joined a noble cause. As soon as gays become tolerant and accepting of the fact that we all have different opinions I say let the woman be freaked. Gays want to be treated as normal right? Normal people don't parade around in floats about who they lay with. Normal people don't define themselves by their sexual preference. Normal people are accepting and forgiving. Normal people are not going against people and calling all who disagree bigots. Normal people know the meaning of bigot and homophobia. And, normal people don't get ticked like terrorists whenever someone has a different opinion. Was that clear enough? Or am I like the woman; nothing to you?

You're being a complete hypocrite. Answer this. What if instead of a young women being freaked out by a gay kiss, it had been an old man and an interracial kiss? What then? Would you demand that pro-black rights groups be more tolerant toward racists?

Are you saying that we're not allowed to be offended at any discriminatory views whatsoever? That jews should be more tolerant of antisemites? That we should be more tolerant toward people who condone pedophilia?

Why answer it again? I wouldn't like it but I'd support his right to an opinion without calling him an intolerant bhgyg and without calling him racial slurs. Two wrong never make a right.

The homophobic part was entirely true, the bitch part was just an angry reaction.

I don't necessarily think someone who disproves of homosexual acts should be classed as homophobic. Just my two cents since some have brought up the topic of homophobia.

I wouldn't say it was homophobic. I would just say she didn't agree with homosexuality and wasnt gonna make any excuses and hide her beleifs even though she would mostly likely be treated horribly.

While technically the definition of phobia is an intense irrational fear, wouldn't you agree that societal interpretations are more important than dictionary definitions?

What she said was homophobic. Criticising a network for not censoring a gay kiss because she doesn't agree with it is homophobic and bigoted. I strongly disagree with what she said and think that she's a closedminded bitch, but I've never once suggested she shouldn't be allowed to express her views.

I'm not suggesting what his women said wasn't homophobic. I was talking in general. I think often people associate anything against homosexuals as being homophobic. For example if someone doesn't hate homosexuals but doesn't believe in gay marriage, they are classed by a lot of people as being homophobic. I was merely stating that if someone doesn't like homosexual acts in public or maybe disagrees on some sensitive issues, they can be classed as homophobic. Whereas in truth they might not be.

There's a difference between insulting someone for being gay and insulting someone for promoting censorship of disagreeing views.

I don't think she should be censored, but I do think she was being homophobic.

I'm assuming you mean what if she disagreed with homosexual behavior. You can't really "disagree" with homosexuality anymore than you can disagree with tallness or disagree with being Asian.

And I answered your question in the first post when I called her a bitch. I support her right to voice her views on homosexuality, and I support my right to voice my views on her.

People like her are what's dragging this nation to hell. If we were accepted, such as strait people, the world would be more peaceful. Two guys kissing is no different then a man and woman. Either way, it's out of love and joy. And as for children seeing it, there are SEX SCENES on live TV. The bitch needs to do some thinking before she starts spouting out like that.
