I am 15 until July, and I want to move away from home, to somewhere still in or around town. I've talked to my mom before, she has sole custody of me but since previous issues has gotten back together with my dad, so we all live in the same house, but they aren't married, so if my mom has sole custody, would I be able to move out with only her permission? I also have options regarding where I go in the case that I do, and another thing is could I do this legally without going to a court? Are there papers that need to be signed? For emancipation do I need to have a job or is a person with a job capable of supporting me enough? I plan on staying in school, getting a job as soon as I can (I've already handed out resumes and filled out applications everywhere in town twice).

The emancipation laws vary depending on the state you live in, but the usual procedure is going to court and filing a petition, and then proving that you're financially stable on your own. Emancipation is pretty hard to obtain unless you have a history of being abused, and even then you'll most likely just be put in foster care.

You should really think about this before you make any decisions. It's a huge challenge to live on your own and provide for yourself at such a young age.
