View Full Version : Done With Puberty At 14?

I started puberty at maybe 11 or 12 years of age, of course male. I am now 13, but 14 in 8 days, so I'm pretty much 14. At year 11/12 I had a growth spurt of about 4 inches in just one year or less, this set me to about 5'5.5". Then, for the next two years or so I would only gain 1/2 inch in height. Which sets me at the height of 5'6". This is a pretty average height for my age, but I might be done growing. This growth spurt may have been my peak height velocity, and the 1/2 inch may have been the cool down. My "symptoms" resemble the stage of 4.5/5. Which would be the exact stage two years after peak height velocity. However, my breasts seem to need further development, and I have yet to get a pimple. My stage for pimple may have been 1/2 years ago. My breasts were always big, because I'm slightly overweight. My hair is still greasy, but it seems to be getting less greasy. I know I'm not completely done with puberty because my voice is continuing to gradually lower, and a new patch of hair on my stomach has recently formed, but as long as height goes I seem to be done growing. My mom is 5'9" and dad 5'11" which would mean typically my height should be closer to 6' than 5'6", but my one sister only grew to 5', so it wouldn't be an far thought to think I am done growing. What makes my growth to 5'6" different is that it happened suddenly and not gradually, I was also in puberty when it occurred. So, am I done growing? Is puberty nearing its completion?

i dont think that you are completely done, maybe bout halfway or so... puberty isnt constant nonstop changes for me either, i would go through super fast development and then it would stop for awhile then it would go crazy again.

I don't think you are done growing. It may seem to have slowed down at 14, the same happened to me. But from 14 to 16 I've grown several inches, gained more mass, and my voice has completely changed. Just give it some time.

Do you look as completely finished growing as your dad? i know a kid in school who's almost 14 and big and has near full facial hair and deep voice and all that. I'm sure he could pass for 16 easy, but it's obvious he's still just a teenager. Unless you can fool a doctor to believe you're 20, then i'd say you still have some growing to do

Well that doesn't necessarily mean that you'll grow more...

From your description it does not seem to me that you have finished. Generally voice change is at the time of peak growth and boys almost always grow to be taller than their mums.

I wouldn't say you're done, you've just started early. Remember puberty doesn't necessarily have to show e.g. the changes aren't always noticeable.

Oh yeah, if you forgot, I just turned 14! Today is my birthday! : D
My growth has slowed to nearly nothing in the past year or two, I am very hairy and have been shaving my mustache for over a year, I can gain muscle extremely quickly (noticeable muscle can from just a weekend long hike), my shoulders seem quite broad (I used to bump into a lot of things, but not as much anymore), I used to get random erections but now I have matured from them, my voice seems to have been gradually changing for the past year only ever a few voice cracks (my Adams Apple is slightly noticeable), my penis is the average of an adult's (not sure on testicles), I'm not hungry anymore, but there are a few things missing. I have never had acne (I think the potential for it was 1 to 2 years ago), I was never sex crazy (was I supposed to be?), and I never grew in height. At least not very much. I had a growth spurt at age 11 and I think that may have been my peak height velocity, so I must be done growing now (I'm 5'6", parents 5'9" and 5'11"). I am still maturing though, somewhat recently I have formed hair on my stomach, but that could just be finishing up. My one sister only grew to 5 foot tall, so maybe I'll only grow to 5 foot 6 inches tall.
So, what's my diagnosis using this knowledge, what stage am I at, or am I done with puberty? (Yes I know I'm not completely done, but for the most part?)

I started at around 10/11 and now I'm 17 and I think I'm "almost" done with the horror myself. I think even when you think you've finished you will keep noticing very small changes "here and there" and I'm noticing my arms are getting hairier and shaving the bits of them I don't want :)

You might have done most of your growing but I'm pretty certain you'll still grow more in the future :)

My test average is about 4.7/5 of the stages of puberty.
I must have grown an inch or something because I'm not 5'6" or 5'8", 5'7"... I think so, but what could this mean? I might have grew this inch gradually throughout the year, or just in the past month... My friends have caught up to me and are about my height now, but they are probably in their peak height velocity growth spurts, so they'll probably be quite tall by next year... Just 4 days ago I had the seven sisters on my nose! Yeah their were 7 barely noticeable "bumps" on my nose, it was acne! Practically the first acne I've ever had... it's gone away now, but what could this mean? Also, the seven or so nights before this "acne" I had sexual dreams every night, and I was a bit horny when awake (could have been hysteria from all this sex talk though), related? So yeah... I dunno :P

I don't think you're doine growing just yet. Puberty doesn't end till you're about 21 and then after that you're done. Puberty is a weird thing, you never no with it

I doubt your done growing at 14, boys don't stop growing until they reach like 20, and some guys have 2 seperate growth spurts so you might hit a growth spurt at around 16.
Even if you are done, 5'6 isn't to short! I'm the same age as you and like 4'8 (and a half!), my dad is only 5'5 and i'm probably not even gonna reach his height when i'm done growing. It kinda sucks but there's nothing I can do about it c:

puberty is normally done around 20s. and it normally starts around 11-13 so you still have so more

This weekend I went camping, in a camper, and while I was walking out I nicked my head on the low door frame. This has never happened before, even just a few weeks ago it didn't happen. So, this means I grew like 2 inches in the past year, and I believe it happened just a few months ago rather than gradually, but I really don't know. I had only grown about an inch for two years before this alleged spurt. So, what does this mean? My growth slowed and now it may be heating up again, what's it doing? I may not have grown much in height in the past two years, but I have continued to mature in most other ways, but why don't I have any acne, lol?
Right, so just answer the white question! I have noticed that you people tend to not actually answer the question the author of the thread asks, so answer mine!

Growth generally doesn't occur gradually, it occurs in "spurts", meaning it's likely that you only grow an inch in one year, two-three inches in a month, and then only an inch over the next few years.
You may just going through a growth spurt, a time of more rapid growth. During puberty, males usually only get two growth spurts. It all depends on the amount of testosterone that is produced by the testes and other hormones by the pituitary gland. Puberty occurs in different stages, so it sounds like you're entering the middle stages of puberty.

Uh... I think my voice MAY have gotten a bit deeper recently what would it mean if it did? I don't entirely know if it did or not.

I would say the person finishes at 19-24. It doesn't end even if you think it is. There is a lot happening in our bodies that we don't know about.
