Guys when did you become a man? (Lost virginity)
I became a man at 16
Edit: of course sex isn't everything for manhood, but it's still a factor ! And I should've named it when did you partially become a man but that doesn't flow. Lol

there's so much more to becoming a man than having sex... I could not have sex ever and still "become a man"

In other posts I have made I stress that sex is just a part of becoming a man , but I didn't post all the other great qualities that make a boy a man, but being honest sex is a mark of manhood but I agree it's not everything but it's ESSENTIAL

I didn't think most people had so much sex, and not to mention so young. I was surprised when I heard the average number of sexual partners before marriage was 6. I don't think I will have sex before marriage, maybe oral but that doesn't count as intercourse and I probably wont go as far as oral. :/ Am I not as sex crazy as I should be? I mean I think masturbation would supply all of my needs. Sex sounds lovely, but I'm not crazy for it.

Not just automatically but it's definitely a factor in manhood

Manhood depends on many other things not just participating in an intercourse.By the way I haven't lost my virginity yet.

Manhood is more a maturity criteria than sex.

But sex is still a factor for manhood

Actually, I disagree. Having sex has nothing to be with being a man. I know a man who kicked a homophobic parishioner out of the church (A Roman Catholic church, not like excommunication, more like "you are not welcome here with an attitude like that. Only god can judge"). That man was the priest, and he hasn't had sex (they take a vow of celibacy), yet he stood up for his beliefs, even when his beliefs could get him in trouble. Having sex is not "essential" to being "a man" as you put it. To be honest, I actually find this thread a little offensive. But that's my two cents. Strength of character is what defines us. Not sex.

I agree with you manhood is not defined by sex but it's defining moment for most guys in their transition from boy to man

To me, being a man is related with a level of maturity and responsibility. I know "men" who already had sex and their behavior is like a 6 years old child.

Exactly...Manhood is directly proportional to maturity.

Certainly it's a minor factor...
But analyze your question well..."when did you become a man?" And you continued by saying..."losing virginity".
Definitely, you are implying that to become a man, the only way is to lose your virginity.

I would become a man when I would be able to distinguish between right and wrong enough to do justice to my actions.
I would become a man when when I would gain the courage to admit my mistakes and amend them.
I would become a man when I would become confident enough to accept myself as I am and not as I should be.
I would become a man when I am able to shoulder my responsibilities well enough to not quail under them or complain about their burden.
So yeah I fall short of becoming a man regardless of whether I lost my virginity or not.

I am a six foot 2 inch man with powerful muscles. I am a man. And I am a proud virgin. I plan to stay that way until I get married. I don't think I have to penetrate to be a man.
However, that's me. If the fact that you lost your virginity at a young age makes you feel good about yourself, then I'm all in for you. I think everyone should feel good about themselves.

Sorry but this is stupid... Like you don't become a man just because you have sex? It has a lot of different factors for becoming a man, not just sex.

I think it's merely euphemism " becoming a man", this makes that part irrelevant. His question really is:
For those of you guys who have lost your virginity at what age did it happen?

exactly this. i agree completely
all this post is doing is making people who have not had sex and are not confident in themselves feel they need to have it in order to "be a man". i just picture somebody reading this and being desperate to have sex and throwing it away with someone not special so they can be peoples idea of a "man". its 2014, not 1960 lol.
i know you just worded it like this, but be careful haha

To be honest, there are plenty of other threads about this topic (such as this (http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/showthread.php?t=205857) one) and this thread has turned more into a debate than actually answering the OP's question. :locked:
