Certainly dead. There's not much we can do. 99.826% of the flights go right. 10% of those which go wrong end really bad. It's a very small minority, but that's the danger of technology.

I see the general opinion is that the plane crashed into the ocean. But in over two months of it being lost not a single trace has been found of the plane despite the best of efforts.
It seems pretty baffling to me, the most intriguing plane case in fact since Amelia Earheart's.
