How to break into the dating scene

I'm 16 and currently taking my GCSE Exams but I'm a introvert and like to keep to myself, and as such I've been unable to make any close female friends over the course of my school life. How can I suddenly change this around now that I'm ready to do so without seeming weird?

Ease into it bro. Like don't force it but take any opportunity to talk to anyone. I find joining group conversations helps a lot too.
