Hey, I want to get into some more gaming, programming, and learn animation. But I can't run really any games on my laptop. Do you know of a good gaming pc that is in the 500$ range?
I'm looking for
1tb of storage hard drive
8gigs ram
At least 1gig dedicated hd graphics
A good quad or dual core processor, like an i5 or whatever the amd equivalent is
And enough other resources to support that
I have a PC lined up, but I wanna hear your opinion. Also, I can upgrade it, so things don't have to be the best. Also, it has to be able to run battlefield 4 good

To be honest, for $500 you shouldn't expect a lot from OEMs. You probably want to build your own computer. Newegg is a pretty good website for finding computer parts.

Yeah, or you could always look on craigslist. Buying used gets you way more for your money.

I would definitely advise building your own. You can get better specs for less. $500 is more than enough for a good gaming computer...

Both of these answers are great advice.
You can buy a used computer that someone else built for very cheap compared to buying a premade one and probably a little bit cheaper than building your own brand-new one.
I'd say that if you're very tight on a budget, look at Craigslist for computers and find one that way. That'll get you the most bang for your buck, and you can negotiate for an even lower price. For everything you're asking for, I don't know you can get something at that price, even if you built it yourself, so check around what people are selling.

True dat! :P
I built my computer from scratch for 500$ with old parts from craigslist and 100% free linux based software. Some know-how is needed to get it up and running but it runs great. I would have had to spend well over 1000$ dollars if I had bought everything new.

I bought everything new and spent almost $1500 (http://pcpartpicker.com/b/Qaj) on mine. Granted, this build would be overkill for what OP wants.
