Hey everyone! Kinda stuck in between a rock and a hard place here, so I thought I'd ask for some advice. Here's my story:

So I'm currently a senior in high school. In about a month I'll be graduating, and that means it's time for all teachers to cram as much work as possible into our curriculum before the semester ends. Normally, this is manageable—However, I also have a job to worry about, and man is it killing me.

I work at a Dunkin' Donuts near my house, and I'm on nearly every other day. The money is nice and all, but some nights I get home exhausted and end up staying exhausted the whole next day. Again, this had been manageable in the past, but now that the semester is ending, I have to deal with this and a million tests in school.

So I tried talking to my manager and requested to have less hours until the end of the year. She seemed to agree, however I later found out, yet again, I'm working every other day this week. I'm nearly failing English and I seriously need more time to study for these tests, but I simply can't when I'm busting my rear end every night at work.

I don't want to just quit on the spot, because quite honestly that's a real dick move to the store, but it's honestly getting to the point where I feel like I have no other choice. I feel like I don't get treated with any respect, and whenever I try talking to anyone I get dismissed immediately. Also, we're going to start having to do online training outside of work, and all this other stuff beyond our normal duties. I just can't handle this and graduating from high school is so much more important to me. If I keep this up the way it is, I'm afraid I may fail English and have to stay another year, which would be the worst thing ever...

What should I do? I really don't want to quit, because after school I'll be able to work again, but I don't think they care enough to let me have a break until then.

You took all the right steps. Now you have to be demanding: tell your manager that your grades are suffering, you're at risk of failing and having to retake English class, and that you need x amount of hours a week (at maximum). If not, you're just going to have to quit. School comes first.

School is more important so I think you should tell your boss that you're failing English. If he doesn't lower your hours, then you should definitely quit.

School is more important so make sure you tell your boss you can not work as much as you're scheduled for and if they still keep scheduling you then you will have to quit

I'd suggest you tell them to quit the job for now, and if they want to.. you can come back after you finished your semester.
Would you rather fail school and have to do the whole year over again? Or just quit the job finish the job and come back later or find a new job?

If a work company can't understand a student's need to do better in school, then I feel sorry for them. You should totally quit that crappy job it sounds like, and focus on school so you can pass man. Nothing sucks worse than staying behind and seeing or knowing your friends are walking, but you can't be with them too.

There's no way you can change your availability? At my job, they will work with you around your school schedule; but if your manager is going to continue to give you too many hours you may have to leave the job for now and return (if possible) once summer comes, or find a new job.

I myself wouldn't say school comes first but that's because I hated it and I'm going to say... English and Maths seem to be the only important ones, at least for art college where I'm at, so I think you should prioritize school for that BUT not if it weren't any of those 2 subjects unless the thing you want to do later on requires anything else.
