Yeah, I have a younger brother and he is just 10 years old, he attends a boarding school and he just came back home. He asked me what "Masturbation" was.
I was suprised and confused at first because i didnt want him to know what it was. He's way too young and just too small(stature).
So i thought i was wise by giving him the oxford dictionary defination of masturbation, but he didnt get what they were saying, he said i should explain better... I then asked him how he knew about the word in the first place and he said he heard some senior students talking about it.
He's a very desperate and curious kid and am sure if i dont say anything, he can go as far as asking our parent and that'll be DISASTROUS!!.
I dont want to tell him cause he's way too young and perhaps, I didnt even know what masturbation was until when i was 13-14. Am 15 now.
And he is not exposed at all, he doesn't even have a mobile phone. All he knows is CARTOON, CARTOONS, and CARTOONS.
So, please what should i tell him? cause i told him i'll get back to him soon and am sure he's not going to forget..

Maybe ask him if he knows what puberty is yet? And just say it's a part of puberty. I have a brother that's five and I would be so scared to tell him if he asked me!

well hes asking you so thats a good thing and i guess what you can say to him is its a game that older kids play and that in a few years youll be able to tell him more or you can tell him what it is and hell probably forget about it in a few days

Hahaaa why not just tell him? He will know eventuality and he isnt going to leave it alone. I would think it better for his big brother to tell him than anyone else. I wouldnt go so far as to show him tho

Ten is definitely not too young to get an honest answer on this. Some people are already showing some signs of puberty at ten. As a minimum you need to explain that for a guy it is playing with his penis to experience pleasure, that the usual way is by stroking and that the most intensive pleasure comes in the form of an orgasm. You could go on to explain that for guys who reached a certain level of maturity orgasm is accompanied by ejaculation and what that is all about or you could wait until he asks. He may also not really "get" horniness unless he has experienced it.

well actually you should explain more about puberty and the sexual stuffs that he wants to know but!!! in a polite and careful way.Actually there's a research has shown that almost every boy seek for porn when they were just 10 (surprising) maybe his body will change soon and fast, so you should start telling and answer his question.Remember telling him by yourself with your love and care for him is better(than others' answers for your brother). :D

I wish someone had helped me at that age - I did hit puberty at 10 (Pubes, erections, cum and all)! You could try and give him a basic information. Would it also be that bad a thing, that if you're unsure on how to tell him, to refer him to your dad. These "talks" with parents are embarrassing, it just depends on weather you're happy to talk, or refer him on.

I asked my older sister about that when I was young and she flat out gave me the explanation. Don't know if that was a good or bad thing

Direct him to an educational website online that can inform him, or let your parents know first to see if they think he's ready to learn about sexual education.

I agree, just tell him. He's going to find out one way or another. Whether it's from his friends, the Internet, etc. It's a normal part of growing up, and we all do it :)

you will know best about what is right.
telling him is harmless, its not a big secret, 10 is approaching puberty for many anyway, plus your his brother, and if he asks someone else, that could cause that person issues if they were inappropriate

Just tell him what it is, I started to figure out the basics of masturbation at like 11-12 on my own so just be honest and tell him. Make sure you make it clear how important it is that he doesn't go around talking about it but I think I would be honest.

i would just explain to him the concept that it is for older kids to do, and that he doesn't have to worry about it - i bet that if he truly understands, as your brother, he will not worry about it until he is older

I think ten is to young. Even though he might be showing signs of puberty it is not a good thing to do. I would never tell my brothers about masturbation and one of them are ten. That is just my opinion. If you want to tell Hume tell him. But if you just make something up. But make sure it isn't something really fake. I just think its a bad idea.

I would tell him, it's not your right to decide when someone is ready to masturbate, even if you don't tell him then he will find out somehow, that's what kids are like, I would be honest with him and tell him that it's a private thing that you do when you are by yourself

I agree completely! Besides some kids go through puberty as early as 11 so it'll be good for him to know. But I wish I'd had an older brother to answer questions and stuff.

I believe than when someone ask about something, it means that this person is old enough to at least receive an answer.
You can explain to him very easy, that masturbation is when you touch yourself and that give you pleasure, that's it!
And it's not true that masturbation starts with puberty. Have you never seen a baby playing with his dick? The difference with the puberty is that there is not sexual thoughts but the pleasure is the same, that's why a baby does it.
If you can't answer something so basic he is not going to trust you for other questions.
