View Full Version : Does my friend think of me as more than a friend?

So there's a close friend of mine that I think might be attracted to me... And we're the same sex. We met a year ago but we didn't start becoming close until around 5 months ago. When we saw each other for the first time in a long time he would try really hard to get close to me. At camp he'd follow me around, and after camp he'd always compliment me and put my profile picture as his wallpaper.

He's extremely comfortable and touchy-feely with me. He's tried holding my hands multiple times. The last time he did this was when he told me to sit next to him on the couch and he'd try to sneakily grab and hold my hand, and occasionally would try to yawn and put his arm over my shoulder. He also touches me unnecessarily a lot of times. For example, when playing video games, instead of simply telling me to press a button, he holds my hand and controls my finger to press the button for me.

He always has the urge to hug me as well. Sometimes when we're both standing he just looks at me and hugs me and says "I love you." Every time I make him laugh hard (which is pretty frequently) he hugs me and tests his head on my shoulders. On that note, he constantly says "I love you" to me and also calls me "sexy" very frequently.

He has tried using me for piggyback rides, he has put his hands over my shoulders and rested his head over my shoulders countless times, so on and so forth.

He has also made many interesting comments. When we were at a sleepover, he came up to me when there were many people around, and asked "can you sleep next to me? It's dark and cold and scary in the room..."

At another sleepover, he looked at me for a few seconds and then said "if you could make out with one guy, who would it be?" A few weeks later, he then asked me "if you could make out with one guy in our group, who would it be?" And another time he said "wow making out with (my name) I wonder what that feels like." And then he has stated that "if there's one person in the world I'd want to watch getting head it'd be (my name)" multiple times.

At dances he is also very touchy-feely. Every time I'm around him at a dancing event (such as Prom or a party) he will come to me and try grinding with me, holding my hands to slow dance, or put his arms around my shoulder.

I went to Prom this weekend and my date told me that she thought it was weird how my friend keeps staring at me and being attached to me the whole event.

He has also gotten extremely close to my face on numerous instances while dancing and while we were buzzed at an afterparty this weekend he was getting extremely close to my face while complaining to me about his date and how she doesn't like him back.

He's a touchy-feely guy in general but people have noticed he's much more attached to me. This weekend I have also noticed that when it was just us two on the couch playing games we were glued together despite having plenty of space to move around, and we also had an extremely long amount of eye contact, which is something kind of frequent. We look each other in the eye a lot.

Lastly, he likes initiating text conversations with me for no reason and every time we're on the phone he likes to extend the conversation a lot.

I mean, could it be that he's just straight and he's comfortable and wants me to be his best friend and he's just being nice? Or is there something more? Because he claimed to really like his prom date and that he was happy my prom date and I made out, and he's also made out with around a dozen girls, if not more and is known as sort of a player. However he refuses to ever visit the strip club and he claims to not want to have sex until marriage even though he's not very religious and when his brother watches workout videos he is very quick to look away and is really defensive and asks his brother "are you gay or something why are you watching a guy working out?" and looked away the whole time, which I find strange.

What do you guys think?

Honestly, I have no idea. At first, reading through, I was starting to think he might be into you, but the end paragraph made me think twice. I don't know. I myself have had people hanging around me constantly at old schools, but that was just because they were outcasts and I just couldn't tell them to go away because that wouldn't be cool. They did some of the things you mentioned, but they were just being annoying and trying to be friends. :/ I dunno mate. Sorry

scenario primo: probably he feels lonely and unloved sometimes...
Scenario secundo: he loves you since he is bi...

If you're that much of a close friend, why not ask him this question?

However he refuses to ever visit the strip club

Up until I got to this part, I thought you guys were kids.

Just ask him jokingly if he would ever make out with you, or date you, something of that sort. If he also make those comments about you, you have the right to also ask him about it. If you're straight and not interested in him, just keep him close, whether he likes you or not. He seems a good friend, despite sometimes making you feel uncomfortable.

He is probably bisexual. I think he likes you, but I think you should ask.

But if he were straight wouldn't he just desire affection from girls and girls only? Doesn't make sense to me...

Probably he is only straight by his words and not overall...
It could be that he's straight and wants to experiment with you...
