I didn't go this year - I didn't have the money...or a date.
What about you? Are you going if you haven't had it yet?

Nice. :) my friends wanted me to go regardless if I had a date (in other words I'd be going by myself essentially) but I wasn't open to the idea haha

I blew mine off because my graduating class was a complete joke.

No date. It was really boring until we played a few metal songs on the PA system.

I went to the prom it was a lot of fun, but here in the Netherlands you don't have to go with a "date" you just go with your group of friends.

I don't have a date and I don't like dancing, so I probably won't go. I don't even care that it's my senior prom either

Only upperclassmen have prom at my school, so no. I hate school organized gatherings anyway, so I might not go to mine even if I could.

I don't want to go because it looks like crap, also it's too much money

Mine is next year. I was invited to go to this year's prom, but decided not to because of the money. Next year is my actual graduation and prom, so I'll definitely be going and have a date as well. They're all boooooorrrrrrrrinnnnnnnnngggggg though.

I didn't go to my senior prom because a) I don't really care, b) I didn't have a date or friends to go with, c) waste of my time and money.

Just about everyone that went and I talked to said it was underwhelming and not as good as they were expecting it, so I didn't really miss out, I guess.

I didn't go to mine because I didn't have a date, was pretty antisocial, and had absolutely no interest in dancing and eating overpriced food. My friends that went complained that their dates sucked, event was subpar in terms of catering and activities, and they were out $200+ for admission, tux, food, pictures, etc. Most of the class went down the shore, got all kinds of drunk and high, some got arrested and unwanted tattoos, and did lots of things they normally wouldn't do. That's all fine, but I'd rather keep my money and do something that I wouldn't regret later on.

That said, I think these kinds of bonding events can be important, whether you want to spend them with all of you classmates or just a small group of friends. Go out and have an adventure; go camping with just your friends, go on a mini-vacation to somewhere interesting, etc. It's likely that you won't see your friends very much after you graduate and you go on your own paths and live your own lives. I'd been fortunate to go on field trips with my marching band to Disney World and England, which included most of my close friends. We got to experience new places together and will be bonded by those experiences for a lifetime. So if you don't think prom is for you, take a trip with some friends to an amusement park or go somewhere just to be together. It can be just as rewarding, if not more, without the "hassle" of prom.

I hate dances, so no I will not be attending my school's prom.

I don't go to public school, my boyfriend is 21, my parents are wacko about dances, and this community isn't so LGBT friendly.

Aside from that, I've never had any interest in going. Sure, if I somehow deliberated my schoolwork an entire year I could maybe make it somehow, but I really don't want to.

I didn't go to my high school prom, didn't go to my college prom, and didn't go to my university prom.

I have better things to do than sip shitty beer, listen to shitty songs and watch people make fools of themselves (although that is very tempting). Especially for my law grad, it's another one of these fucking jokes where the committee is composed of all sickly rich kids that have no care for those of us lower on the wealth ladder, and invariably book places that are out of the means of the plebeians, probably so we won't ruin their prom with our dirty presences.

I'd rather receive my diploma in the mail then celebrate graduation by smoking a few bowls and having a LAN party with a few friends, whereupon we school baddies at any online game of our choice. That's something I'd attend.

I'd be going this year dateless, but the problem was I didn't have money to pay for the tickets and by the time I did, it was sold out. Next year I guess.

I'm not going to go into story telling but me and female companion had our own "prom." I was and still am broke so we didn't go anywhere.

I'd like to go to prom, but that won't happen for another 4 years. I just hope I can find a cute guy to go with between now and then.:P

I cannot stand 99% of my graduating class and didn't feel like spending $1,000 so I hung out with some kids from my college instead.
