Here in where I live you're allowed to drink beer or wine at 16. All other alcoholic drinks you can only drink when you're 18. I recently went to a dinner party with some old friends from middle school and I was actually surprised by the fact that most of them could drink Porto wine as easily as they could drink water (which means they were used to it), and they played this stupid game where they had to drink a full glass of wine in only one go. It was a bit disturbing, actually, seeing them, still so young, drinking like that, and smoking God knows what afterwards. It's not bad to drink on weekends if you're 16, the problem is the amount, and how often you do it. If you have self-control, and are sensible enough not get addicted, that I don't see much problem, has long as it is legal in your region, of course.

Agree with this.

Also would like to note that drinking young (and I don't mean a little wine with dinner or a beer now and then, I mean binge drinking) has been linked to alcoholism, so be careful.

I believe the legal age is 18 where you are, yes. Understand that there are legal repercussions- and possibly ones for your parents as well as yourself. (Is it really fair to drag them into this?) Also, sometimes schools will kick players off sports teams or out of clubs if they find out that they are doing illegal activities. Be aware of that as well.

Truthfully, if I was you, I'd cut it back until I was of legal age- at the very most you have a little less than two years. Is it really that big of a deal?

I mean, I'm not saying that you necessarily just have to stop drinking, but it'd probably be beneficial in the long run to only drink on special occasions for now. That's the way I grew up, honestly. I was the one who ruined it for myself.

Would also like to point out that A. those who drink often are more prone to chemical addiction, and B. drinking in teen years can slow development- namely brain development.

In the end, it's your choice. We're not the police, we won't come to your house and stop you. But that's not to say we're not going to caution you against it.

if you're going to drink and smoke in your adolescent years you should absolutely exercise caution, much more so than an adult would because your brain is still undergoing a critical stage of development. always remember that moderation is key. for example, there's no need to get blitzed off your ass on Everclear when you can still get a fun buzz off of a few bitch beers. likewise if you smoke weed do so in reasonable amounts and don't smoke yourself stupid (weed might be low-key but it's not 100% harmless, nothing is).

tl;dr - have fun but not too much.

It's always a little risky when you are still growing, but drinking casually probably isn't that big of a deal, as long as you aren't shit faced every weekend. I don't like alcohol at all though, I would just stay away for the most part.

Drinking in my house is an everyday thing so its normal to me I don't see a problem with it.
moderation is the key.

You can drink if you want to, but do keep in mind these stuffs:
- it is illegal
- it can lead into addiction
- be responsible
- don't drink just because you want to look cool. Life is so much more than "looking cool". If that's your motive, you're gonna end up drinking more than you should.

Personally I was binge drinking like that on a lot of weekends from approximately the age of 14/15 it wasn't to look cool, it was just fun to party like that. Technically it is illegal but as long as you're somewhere where you'll be safe and you don't do anything stupid then I don't see the problem every teenager does it at least once. It hasn't done me any harm.

But then again drinking isn't the key to happiness if you don't want to drink every weekend then don't, don't do something just because every other group is do what makes you happy.

It's bad for cerebral development.

no, as long as the drinking is kept at a moderate pace and you don't do anything stupid to land yourself in prison lol

No, I've done it on 16-year-old before too and I still do it as a 17-year-old, and in the Netherlands you have to be 18 before you can drink..

If you're doing it to the point that you need immediate medical attention, it is no doubt a problem. if you're just drinking some shitty light beer and maybe smoking some pot, then it's no harm unless you get caught.

Nope, I started drinking at 15. I think as long as you are at place where your inebriation won't cause your harm it's fine. If I had my way the legal age would be lowered to 18.

It's pretty normal I guess, not legal though (at least in the UK).

Just because you don't go to the hospital doesn't mean its fine. But I don't really have a problem with it. Do what you want

Considering the question given on this forum is whether or not it's fun, I'm not going to give you a life lesson about alcohol and whether or not you should do it; especially considering I believe you are old enough to be responsible with it and know your limits.

But yes, I believe alcohol is very fun to consume with friends. It just depends on the amount, and it seems like your friends didn't quite know their limit-- therefore, they didn't exactly have the best time of their life. I've had some friends go overboard and it made things not so pleasant for all of us.
