Depends on the type of hacker you are referring to. White hat hackers are people who ethically hack. Basically, they only hack their own computer systems to see how hard it is, and only hack other systems when asked to. Black hats are the ones that end up in the news. They crack into systems to get attention or information. Basically, the opposite of white hats. I am a white hat, and I hate black 'Nuff said

I'm a good guy. I would never want to hack into systems for info. I do hack my friends computers tho. I put a lol virus on it that is non harmful or I just mess with the settings.

I wasn't saying I knew it all, just a brief summary of what I knew. Sure there are more, but those are the two main groups.

Basically that. I hate it when people assume hackers are evil. I know how to hack a wireless access point and gain access to peoples computers from there. That does not mean I will do it (without permission).

"Just another Perl hacker" - Awesome.
"PSN went down" - Well, that's a cracker.
Technically the term hacker is usually used to refer to a cracker, but since English is a dynamic language and stuff I guess hacker = cracker now.
Morally I'm against them, but... I really wanted that Vegas Pro to do my school video.

I hacked a guys Facebook page and made a status saying "OMG, I LOVE JUSTIN BIEBER, MY <3 BTS 4 U! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 3". He wondered who did that.

I myself became some what of a hacker when I was still in high school. I once found a way to grant myself access tothe computer account of anyone in the school. This let me simply log into anyone's account and do anything I wanted with there files. This was likely illegal. I never cared or bothered to check because it was un-trackable to our inept IT guy.
I also recently found out how to grant myself access to the star WiFi at college that doesn't log you out after 15mins.
The only time I have ever actually hacked with the intent to destroy was when someone I hated spat on me and wbroke my wrist watch so I granted myself access and basically deleted his English, and History homework put some dodgy shit in his search history, a dick move on my part but he had it coming.

Back in High School, I used to be able to hack people's phone and send text messages, make phone calls and download all their personal data via Bluetooth connection.
Those days are long gone though and that was during the early days of Bluetooth being readily available on phones. Used to only be able to put it on a Nokia phone running the older version of Symbian.

Depends on the type of hacker and the hackers cause. I do have a soft spot for those who reveal information that is secret when it shouldn't be.

I absolutely fucking hate those twats who keep breaching security systems making it so everyone has to change their passwords on certain websites and I think that kind of thing should be stopped but these pricks just keep getting better. I like things like this though on a smaller scale... :)

HAHA :D the best someone ever did to me was change the computer wallpaper to some really fat naked guy and because of how it all worked in school it changed the wallpaper for everyone who logged into that one. Better to do that than to get physical revenge on him and get in trouble for that...;)

And that my friend is the advantage of being the only person in the school aware of how a computer actually works, even the "technition" couldn't figure out how I granted myself access to anyone's account. That was a day to feel proud :)

Hackers.....
As everyone says it depends, if you are illegally hacking with no reason to, then not good. If you have a valid reason, and the other person you are hacking is either chilled or you spoke to them then its all good.
I hacked someone's computer once, because I suspected they were downloading pirated games (I have no sympathy for software pirates) and found what I was looking for. You can imagine what happened next
