I personally think that it's a bit weird to date family members, even distant family, but some people are into it I guess.

If you want to talk about freedom, then anything is right. Killing someone is right because you should be able to hate who you want to hate. Abusing your children is right because you should not care for those you don't want to care for. Please don't stand behind that argument. It is annoying and very easily misinterpreted.
There is something called ETHICS in this world, love. They are the borderlines of your so-called freedom to love.
EDIT: alright sorry you deserve more than an angst-ridden reply. Love, have you ever heard of incest? Have you ever researched about why is incest wrong? The impact is on the baby you'd produce. Said baby would have a very, very high chance of developing mental retardation or physical deformity. Have you ever met someone with physical/mental handicap? Do you not think it is better if someone has a healthy mind and a healthy body? If you know full well you are going to produce a handicapped child, would you still do it anyways? How selfish are you?

Yeah I personally wouldn't date a cousin but I guess as incest goes, it's not a bad as your sibling. There are plenty of potential partners out there, you don't need to date your cousin.

It's undoubtedly taboo, but if I'm going to call myself an egalitarian, then I should remain consistent and say that I have no right to judge people on their own personal lifestyle choices.

It partly depends on where you're from (in the UK marrying your cousin is 100% legal. I believe it's illegal in some states in the USA?), and your background. I've done a Google search and the Wikipedia link (not sure on posting links) suggests 10% marriages worldwide are with cousins, and it's quite common for arranged marriages and in the middle east. There is an increase in possible genetic defects in any children produced. Some people are "grossed out" by the idea, others are OK with it.

well, if y'all are full fledged bf/gf, and gettin it in on the weekends, then yeah, thats totes weird. But I totally get it if y'all are attracted to one another and wanna be together all the time and stuff, but I would just call that being very close. Saying that y'all are bf/gf tho is a wee extreme.

I just don't know. Obviously it's less of an issue than dating a sibling but I've never actually been in that situation before
