I used to be able to watch videos from my laptop on my tv usong an hdmi cable. Today wheni tried both my computer screen and my tv were black. When i remove the cable my computer screen returns to normal I tried various solutions such as fn + f combination but nothings working. Any ideas guys?:confused:

It may be your tv. Does your computer screen normally go black when you hook it to the tv, and the tv play the video? If so, it is probably your tv. Try making sure that the HDMI cable is plugged in to the tv properly. Try changing ports on the tv if that doesn't work. Try (this one is simple, but could be the problem) making sure the tv is on the correct input channel... If all that fails, check with a different HDMI cord. If that doesn't work, it is probably your computer

It used to work before fine, only started not working yesterday. Though it might have been the cable but my ps3 works fine so idk? Tried at a friends house with my laptop....works fine....any other ideas?

Try a different HDMI port on your tv then

Got it to work.....my tv can show two inputs at once my computer was on the input not selected
