In the past 6 months I've gained about 20 pounds, from 165 to 185 pounds, but I haven't noticed increased body fat or anything like that. I think I almost look slimmer than before. But the scale says otherwise. Oh and I'm 73 inches, or 185.42 centimeters tall.
What do you think that's all about?

Maybe you just grew taller?
Or you could be storing fat on other places instead of your stomach.

I've grown about 2 inches in that 12-6 month period.
I don't have flabby arms or anything like that. Maybe the increased height compensated for any weight gain.

I believe for every inch you gain you're supposed gain 6-8 pounds so that explains most of it. Also your weight can easily vary by ~3 pounds in a day (due to water, food, etc) so there's a chance that the last time you weighed yourself you were on the lighter side and this time on the heavier side. That would seem to account for it as you don't feel as though you've gained any muscle mass or fat.
