View Full Version : Different Concern

I posted here a couple of weeks ago about how I have been going on the elliptical almost everyday for almost 2 hours, and about how I was waiting to see results. Anyhow, that is not my concern anymore.
Recently I haven't been able to stay on the machine for more than 20 minutes, even after I took a couple of days off. I haven't been able to do my regular 75-90 minutes for about a week and a half now.
What could I be doing wrong? My cardio just seems to be getting worse.
Any feedback, tips or suggestions are appreciated! :)

You're on it for too long, what you're doing is counter productive in a way. It's actually breaking your muscles down by being in a catabolic state. The reason why you might not be feeling like continuing could simply be because that you lack the energy to do so. your muscles are being broken down, and can't support you on the everyday 2 hour cardio anymore.
If you don't feel like starting a basic strength program along with your weight loss,I'd just advice you on increasing the intensity instead and try to go with about 30mins-1 hour max, because 2 hours is just too long for anything. Be it lifting or cardio.

How long do you think it will take for my muscles and energy to recover, because 6 days later I'm still not the same. Did I cause permanent damage?

Well the loss of muscle tissue can't be brought back unless you get on a training program. This is why when most people go on extreme diets or exercise without any bodyweight or weight training program, they end up being frail because of the lack of muscle.
I think the best thing you could do now is to take it slow. Make sure your diet is good and healthy, and if you can, find a good weight training routine to follow. Don't focus on the elliptical machine too much, instead try higher intensity cardio (HIIT). A basic HIIT workout would be a 20 second sprint, followed by a 40 second jog/walk. You could try doing that for 20mins instead, and you'll be better and stronger. Again it depends on your current status(you didn't state your weight/height),if you feel pain when sprinting or running then of course, don't do that. There are plenty of other HIIT workouts you could google for, some of them can even be done at home.
Good luck man :)

This is definitely the best answer.
You can't exercise for that long.
