Hi all. So i'm going to be a junior in HS next year and i will be start with Chemistry CP (regular level), however, my teacher said that i could be moved up to Honors if i proved i could handle it by the first week.

So i've made up a plan. I want to learn about chemistry during the summer. i want one of those beginning books, like chemistry for dummies. but idk if there's any better. anyway. i just want to start school and already knowing quite a lot of basic chemistry stuff, to prove them i should be moved to Honors.

If you guys can give me tips about chemistry beginning books, or you have done this kind of thing in the past, give me tips on how to learn through myself!

thanks!

Chemistry isn't actually that hard. All that you would really need to know is the basic periodic table, and what elements are reactive and what aren't. They should cover the rest within a few weeks from there. Honors isn't just for smarter kids, because all it is is taking the material faster. You should be fine if you google Khan Academy and look for some chemistry stuff.

Can you ask at school what text book they use - that might be a good start.
